“An elegant find. Excellence across cuisine, service, design and vibe”
My visit to The Bridge Room is some time since it was a mere twinkle in the eye of canny financier Leon Fink. He has an eye for landmark restaurants. Ross Lusted is brilliant he said.. and as owner/executive chef Ross does shine bright in this joint venture . As does his Chef de Cuisine, Stephen Moore. Both worked for Aman Resorts, returning to Oz to give us this jewel.
The Bridge Room t is sensational. Everything you want in a city restaurant. A wonderful light filled interior, all creams, browns and greys that highlight the elegant ground level space within a landmark art nouveaux building. It smacks of established diners in New York and London, just slightly more sassy Sydney edge.
The atmosphere is clubbish in the best sense.. sound baffled for calm dining. Service staff top end, efficient and non invasive.
My two companions - a Sydney jeweller and a television executive from Melbourne - are both worldly women who love a good lunch. We manage to meet infrequently so time together is savoured. The Bridge Room lunch was one of our best across various cities and countries we agreed .. we are new ambassadors.
My favourite course was a spanner crab, picked and shelled with a finely shredded celeriac salad, verjuice, tomato and taste bombs of lemon cream. But then the wild caught kingfish with oriental undertones... and a dessert which still has my mouth watering a month later.. I've depicted it here (so blinded was I by the dish itself, cannot recall its title)
The Sancerre was a stunner from a very fine wine list..
The Melbournian had difficulty finding The Bridge Room from street signage.. Sydney City Council take note, grand restaurants like this need your help with better aid here !
Note : maybe it was the Sancerre - apologies to management for photographic depiction, not up to the actual dishes at all
