Had a fantastic time w/Sam and the group I went with to the Hunter Valley in January. It was a great day out. I've been to the Hunter Valley a few times w/travel companies, but this was one of the best ones ever. The commencement of the day w/the kangaroos and koalas was just stunning and a great start to the day and the trip. I'd highly recommend Sam and Kangarric for an enjoyable, personalized day!

I went on the Hunter Valley wine tour towards the end of December. After meeting our little boutique bus group near Central station (very easy to find) we were on our drive to the region of fine wine!!! On the way we stopped at the animal wildlife park where I took a picture with a koala! It was a great stop over as I get car sick and that was a good break in the journey. Once in the hunter valley I was surprised at how much we packed into the day. I wish I had more time to test the wines! The first place was the best place and we spent most of our time there testing the wine in the great weather. I came back with a box of wines and now have a set of new favourites! Sam is very relaxed and tries to accommodate everyone's requirements and needs. Relaxed is what you want on these trips!!! well worth the value for money. I would go back but for at least 3 days next time :)

Sam was a friendly, talkative and very interesting guide and I'd thoroughly recommend his tour. We visited a wildlife park, fudge store, brewery, and got to taste some amazing cheeses. Of the 3 vineyards - the smaller two were delightful with delicious wines on offer and fantastic hosts. We only wish that we'd been able to afford / had space to carry home more wine! The hosts of the wine tasting at the 3rd vineyard, sadly, were clearly just there for the salary, knew little about the wine and were surly and inattentive. Which isn't Sam's fault. And he was endlessly patient with the one child on the tour. Would reccomend, and would go again.

Great trip - reviews below say it all. We handled a python, got up close with 'roos and emus and photographed Koala's and Wallaby's. Chocolate tasting was little more than a trip to a chocolate shop (imported from Belgium) and Cheese tasting - nothing more than you can do in a supermarket - but the wine tasting was very good and plentiful. Importantly, Sam works hard to make sure everyone enjoys the day. We even forgive him the cheesy music! If you are a hardened wine connoisseur this tour isn't for you - everyone else, from 7 to 70, will have a lot of fun. It does take a full day - 8am - 6.pm and you buy your own lunch but Sam has menus so you can order ahead.
