“Clean and straightforward”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

I liked the rooms because they were brand new and had nice bed side lamps (called Snake I believe). There is nothing particularly fancy about Scandic hotels, but this one was very clean and had good room for storing luggage. What I miss in this kind of hotels are better bath products and better towels.
It is situated smack in the middle of town, so one can easily go the a store nearby and buy something to drink and eat and that way save some bucks compared to the prices in the hotel.
Tried both lunch and dinner at the restaurant and they were both below average both regarding quality and selection.

“Yup, pretty good”

We arrived early-ish on a Saturday - about 14:30, room was not ready but fare enough. Staff were helpful when I asked about parking. There is parking below the hotel, but operated by Europark and quite expensive. The top tip is to park in the street, after 15:00 Sat it's free till Monday morning.
When we got into our "superiour" room it was on the top floor, clean spacious, with nice views looking west. We were in a room provisioned for disabled people, which was no problem in itself, although an alarm button next to the bedside light proved all to easy to press accidentally, which then prompts the reception to ring and check all is OK. At least we know it works......
Beds were a little soft, for me, but overall the room was quiet and peaceful. Internet access was easy to pick up from the TV supplied code.
Breakfast was a typical offering - cereals (nothing frivolous), eggs, bacon, mini sausages, cold meats, fruits cheese etc.. All very nice and plenty of it. Should there be any sun, the dining room catches it nicely in the morning.

“Vegetarian meal - non existant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2011

On the first nights stay at the new Scandic Hotel I went to the restaurant and asked for the Vegetarian option. The waitress returned to say that it was not available but that they could take the ham out of the salad. After declining this option I asked could they have the Vegie meal available for tomorrow - to which they answered yes.
The next evening and a different waitress but the same story. I know Norway caters very litttle for Vegetarians but this hotel advertised the meal and I specifically requested the meal for the 2nd night, so I feel as if a hotel has badly let me down.

“Clean, smart hotel, well placed in the town of Haugesund”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

The hotel was clean and smart-the rooms were modern and well-equipped, with comfortable beds and an immaculate bathroom. Nor much hanging or storage space for clothes was the only complaint. Also, although coffee is free, you had to go to the bar for this as there's no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast was brilliant-loads of choice, freshly prepared and served buffet style in a large breakfast room with lots of space. Perfect. Norway is a very pricey country so bar prices were high, but with the ample breakfast to start your day, this hotel is great for budget concious travellers.
