Tired after a long drive but made up by a friendly welcome and very efficent service good value and a good night will use again.
Location is straight of the motorway and straight back on again no resturant
so a 15 minute drive into Carlise required to find a place to eat.
For an overnight stay, this hotel represents excellent value for money compared with comparable hotels. It has everything you need. It was clean and comfortable and a very early departure in the morning was very straightforward - just post the key at reception and off you go!
After reading the reviews we were a bit worried and wasn't sure if we can find it easily the problem being that we were heading north and the hotel is accessible southbound only. It wasn't an issue at all, our GPS was directing us straight to the hotel. We received a pleasant welcome smile from the receptionist, she was really kind. The rooms we got were not huge but refurbished and clean. Beds, pillows are comfy. We had no problem with the noise from the M6. This hotel is perfect for a stopover. It is important to know - as some other travellers also pointed it out earlier - that there is no food available after 7 p.m. when Costa closes next to the hotel, so be prepared for that. To sum it up, if you want luxury, don't stay here. If you want great value for money and a good night's sleep, this hotel does the job for you.
The bed was superbly comfortable. That was the highlight of the overnight stay.
Things began to go downhill before we reached the bed – the receptionist was indifferent and unwelcoming when we booked in at about 5.30pm. She barely spoke, and everything appeared to us to be an effort.
In the room we were disturbed by banging doors; the television was badly tuned and there were no operating instructions; one pillowcase had been put on inside-out; there was a rip in the duvet cover; no lock on the bathroom door (and it was almost impossible to get the latch to engage without using brute force); and the bathroom itself wasn't exactly squeaky clean. For this reason we neither bathed or showered.
This site has no adjoining restaurant (you can buy packaged breakfast from reception); and the breakfast menu left in the room was both crumpled and stained.
Another trip to reception would be necessary if a hairdryer was needed, but that would have meant another encounter with the morose receptionist. No thank you!
Apart from the bed the only positive note was a cheery farewell from receptionist Graham at 5.30a.m.
In all, a stay which was memorable – for the wrong reasons.

Recently refurbished. Comfortable and clean. Only downfall it can only be accessed from southbound M6.If you want to eat in Carlisle when you are finished you have then to drive back up M6 TO Gretna and doubleback.
