If you are going to Wellington, there is a fabulous B & B across the bay from the city named Lowry Bay Homestay. It is situated in a tranquil setting with lovely gardens, posh accomodations and incredible, full-on breakfasts. There are bush walks just up the street, a ferry terminal nearby to get into the city across the bay.
Pam and Forde are the ultimate hosts and can make arrangements for visits to not only the Wellington sights, but a nearby Maori enclave as well. They also are a travel agency and can suggest and arrange for transportation off the North Island. In short, they are the complete package.
We are fairly well-travelled and normally stay in city centers so that we can tour at will but this is a very special place and we give it our highest recommendation.
