“Delightful Escape!”

While planning my trip to Ireland, I planned to spend time hiking, visiting old friends, and staying at a mix of hotels and B&B's. I found this location on a web search, when I was looking to book a 'spa break'. I enjoyed a lovely drive to Delphi, and was incredibly surprised when I checked in. I was greeted warmly, and showed to my room which was an oasis in itself. I had barely been in my room 5 minutes when I returned to the desk to ask if I could book the room a few more nights -- I knew immediately that I wanted to extend this part of my trip! Service was incredible -- one of the staff even offered to loan me their personal hiking gear!

My next trip to Ireland will definitely include a leisurely stay here.

“Beautiful isolation”

I spent 2 nights at Delphi with my two children. The hotel had been closed for December and most of January so we arrived on the first weekend of the year they were open. We were greeted very warmly at reception, checked in quickly and shown to our room. It was a family suite; bedroom, living room and huge bathroom with a great bath and separate shower. The room was very comfortable and spacious. There was no TV to the amazement of the children! Nor is there any mobile phone signal so you really are away from it all.

We ate dinner in the restaurant that evening - me from the main menu and the children from the children's menu. I was told that if there was anything the children wanted from the main menu the chef would gladly do a half portion for them, nice touch and should be universal but unfortunately is not. The food was good, not extraordinary, but solid, tasty food. My only gripe about the whole trip, and it is one that I feel quite strongly about, is the cost in the restaurant. For a starter and a sirloin steak I paid about €33 (steak carries a €5 premium on the 2- or 3-course set menu price). The following day for a starter and a piece of mackerel it was €28. In a lot of other places you can simply choose not to eat in the hotel and go elsewhere but Delphi really is quite isolated so it is a bit of a trek to eat somewhere else, particularly with children. There is a bar menu but there was nothing on it that took our fancy for dinner - we ate lunch there one day and it was good, not extraordinary but good.

Breakfast was excellent; great range of home made cereal, poached fruit, juices, pastries, organic yoghurt, cooked food and good coffee.

We did three activities while we were there - 2 land and 1 water. Henry took us for the land activities for the morning and he was really excellent. He remained patient and calm (while we didn't as we were suspended high above the ground), and with his great coaching and expertise he guided us through a challenging morning. After lunch in the bar we went out for the afternoon Canadian Canoeing with James (I hope I have the name right, apologies if I don't). Again, he was really excellent - patient, expert and had a great rapport with the children. Despite being almost numb with the cold by the end of it we had a great afternoon.

There are DVD players and a great range of family movies available to borrow from reception along with board games. The lounge area has a good selection of newspapers and a fruit bowl to which you can help yourself, another nice touch. All of the water in the hotel (including from the bathroom taps) is filtered spring water and delicious.

All of the staff we encountered were very warm and welcoming and any requests were dealt with very quickly and efficiently.

I didn't use the spa so cannot comment on that.

I would thoroughly recommend Delphi Mountain Resort but for the restaurant dinner prices which I think don't represent good value.

Dear DLMCC,
Thank you for your great review and feedback. I’m really delighted to read that you and your children enjoyed your stay with us. It sounds like you all had a fantastic time taking part in all the different Activities. James and Henry are really thrilled with their mention so thank you for that. Great to see that you enjoyed the complimentary DVD players and movies also.
Our Chef Michael is so happy with your complements on our breakfast selection. All of our offerings are homemade and fresh which we think makes a huge difference to the quality and taste. Good to read that you think it’s a good idea to offer the Children half portions also. We have done a lot of work on our Children’s menu recently and have designed a healthy and interesting selection which is going down a real treat with our Guests since we launched it. Next time you stay with us be sure to check with our Reception Staff on other local options a;sp as Leenane is just a ten minute drive from here which is a great little Village to experience.
Thanks again and we hope to welcome you all back soon.
Kind regards,
Rory Concannon

“Just what the doctor ordered!”

We had a 2 night midweek break recently which we thoroughly enjoyed!

The hotel is situated in a beautiful spot, away from all the hustle and bustle of urban life. If you are going for an adventure or relaxation break, this place covers all. We booked it as a relaxation break; and it paid dividends! Upon our arrival we were given an complimentary upgrade to a luxury suite - fantastic size and very pleasing to the eye with a balcony overlooking the goregous scenery. Yes, there's no tv's, but we didn't miss it, it makes this place more unique!

Some great walks around the hotel to blow the cobwebs out; definately recommend visiting Kylemore Abbey & Walled Garden (about 30-40 mins drive from hotel). On your return to the hotel, book the complimentary thermal spa suite to relax those muscles in the large jacuzzi pool, steam room and sauna; also a lovely relaxation area where you can lie up on comfortable loungers, drink herbal teas and nibble on fresh fruit overlooking the mountains.

We had food in the bar on our 1st night which did not disappoint. We had a meal in the restaurant on our 2nd night, which was absolutely gorgeous. Also the spread available for breakfast (buffet) was second to none and certainly filled you up for the day.

The staff were very friendly and always asked how your day was/what planned; which we found a nice touch.

Definately would recommend this place and would go back.

“Amazing”

It was my first time visiting the Delphi Mountain Resort and Spa and I can guarantee you the I will be going back again. The reception on arrival was first class as was everything of the hotel and all facilities. I have no bad word at all to say about Delphi and I am really looking forward to my next visit. You really escape from everything, no tv, phone, total escape from the craziness of modern life. The food is amazing really melt in your mouth stuff, and the rooms are huge with an excellent sized bath (for more relaxing). I also went for some treatments in the spa and it was pure bliss, seaweed bath was relaxing and one of the best massages I have ever had.

So to sum up if you want an escape from reality and the quality of everything around you is breathless especially the scenary then do go for Delphi.

Excellent hotel that surpassed my expectations. Beautiful and relaxing with fantastic food. I haven't had a seafood chowder like that in years; warming, fish filled, delicately spiced with the most wonderful home made brown bread going.
