I spent 2 nights at Delphi with my two children. The hotel had been closed for December and most of January so we arrived on the first weekend of the year they were open. We were greeted very warmly at reception, checked in quickly and shown to our room. It was a family suite; bedroom, living room and huge bathroom with a great bath and separate shower. The room was very comfortable and spacious. There was no TV to the amazement of the children! Nor is there any mobile phone signal so you really are away from it all.
We ate dinner in the restaurant that evening - me from the main menu and the children from the children's menu. I was told that if there was anything the children wanted from the main menu the chef would gladly do a half portion for them, nice touch and should be universal but unfortunately is not. The food was good, not extraordinary, but solid, tasty food. My only gripe about the whole trip, and it is one that I feel quite strongly about, is the cost in the restaurant. For a starter and a sirloin steak I paid about €33 (steak carries a €5 premium on the 2- or 3-course set menu price). The following day for a starter and a piece of mackerel it was €28. In a lot of other places you can simply choose not to eat in the hotel and go elsewhere but Delphi really is quite isolated so it is a bit of a trek to eat somewhere else, particularly with children. There is a bar menu but there was nothing on it that took our fancy for dinner - we ate lunch there one day and it was good, not extraordinary but good.
Breakfast was excellent; great range of home made cereal, poached fruit, juices, pastries, organic yoghurt, cooked food and good coffee.
We did three activities while we were there - 2 land and 1 water. Henry took us for the land activities for the morning and he was really excellent. He remained patient and calm (while we didn't as we were suspended high above the ground), and with his great coaching and expertise he guided us through a challenging morning. After lunch in the bar we went out for the afternoon Canadian Canoeing with James (I hope I have the name right, apologies if I don't). Again, he was really excellent - patient, expert and had a great rapport with the children. Despite being almost numb with the cold by the end of it we had a great afternoon.
There are DVD players and a great range of family movies available to borrow from reception along with board games. The lounge area has a good selection of newspapers and a fruit bowl to which you can help yourself, another nice touch. All of the water in the hotel (including from the bathroom taps) is filtered spring water and delicious.
All of the staff we encountered were very warm and welcoming and any requests were dealt with very quickly and efficiently.
I didn't use the spa so cannot comment on that.
I would thoroughly recommend Delphi Mountain Resort but for the restaurant dinner prices which I think don't represent good value.

Dear DLMCC,
Thank you for your great review and feedback. I’m really delighted to read that you and your children enjoyed your stay with us. It sounds like you all had a fantastic time taking part in all the different Activities. James and Henry are really thrilled with their mention so thank you for that. Great to see that you enjoyed the complimentary DVD players and movies also.
Our Chef Michael is so happy with your complements on our breakfast selection. All of our offerings are homemade and fresh which we think makes a huge difference to the quality and taste. Good to read that you think it’s a good idea to offer the Children half portions also. We have done a lot of work on our Children’s menu recently and have designed a healthy and interesting selection which is going down a real treat with our Guests since we launched it. Next time you stay with us be sure to check with our Reception Staff on other local options a;sp as Leenane is just a ten minute drive from here which is a great little Village to experience.
Thanks again and we hope to welcome you all back soon.
Kind regards,
Rory Concannon
