Stayed here again (4th time). The owners have closed the restauraunt part down - we were very disappointed - they have changed it into a coffe shop and an "emporioum" that sells the most beutiful furnishings, jewlery, gifts, linen etc. dispite the closure of the resturant the rooms and location made up for everything - it definelty is the best location in town.

bIRR, kINNITTY county Offlay grand and brilliant all in one. Love the Stables and the Chestnot bar in Birr. True Irish hospitality not found often. Please say hello to the proprietor Miss Fay at the Chestnut

Last Easter we visited Birr, a beutiful town, ended upstaying in The Stables Townhouse & Restaruant. We had found it by reading a previous review on trip advisor. It lived up to all our expectations. Ended up eating 3 of our 4 nights there, the food was excellent and plentiful, in a very pleasant ambiance. Situated in the middle of the town but on wide, quite, tree lined street that leads up to the castle. Visited a few of the Pubs in the town the best was the Chestnut. Highly recommended.
