The Maltings B&B/Guesthouse is located beside a little river, so you eat your breakfast to the sight of little ducks swimming past and to the sound of water rushing over the nearby weir. The room we stayed in was large, comfortable and immaculately clean. The breakfast was excellent with a full range of different options. The B&B is located beside Birr castle and is within 1 minute's walk of the town centre, yet it's very quiet and tranquil. Birr town itself is a very attractive little town and well worth a visit.

We having been staying over at The Maltings yearly for nearly ten years. Maeve, family and Susan run a lovely Guest House, with great family atmosphere, (home from home) beautiful setting, cosy and clean family room accommodation, great food and the craic is good too! Our Kids wouldn't stay anywhere else, especially when its breakfast time, they always like to keep a few slices of toast to feed the ducks.

The Maltings is a beautiful building in a lovely location. We had missed it last time we were in Birr (and ended up in the hotel with the nightclub - noisy mistake!) so we made sure we stayed there for a night this time. The owner was friendly and very helpful - we had to move rooms because a swarm of flies had gotten in from the river! (don't leave your window open if you go out for the day!) Maeve was very apologetic, even though it was no-one's fault and we ended up in a lovely family room. Breakfast was lovely and the location meant an easy walk for dinner - unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open when we were there.
