My mum and I stayed at the Avanti Guest House in June 2006 for one night. We were staying in Tramore because I had a dog show there the next morning. The guest house itself is immaculately clean with all the facilities of a 3/4 star hotel and is in a quiet cul-de-sac. In fact, some hotel owners could learn from the way this guesthouse is ran. The O'Connors who own the guesthouse are extremely welcoming and informative. In our room there was a double and single bed, a large wardrobe and chest of drawers, a fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, fresh drinking water in a flask, a hairdryer, television, wine & water glasses, tolietries in the bathroom, fluffy white towels and a power shower. There is also a living room/dining room for the guests' use. There is a smallish garden but it is completely enclosed which meant it was ideal for us with a dog because we could close the gates and let the dog have a run around first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I thnk the whole house is no smoking but there is a nice seating area in the garden. I was also able to park my car outside the bedroom window which suited because the dog was in the car overnight. The breakfast the next morning was excellent. Mary the host brought everything to your table - most guesthouses I've stayed in you at least have to help yourself to cereal. There was orange juice, tea, coffee, four different cereals and a selection of jams, fresh wheaten bread (an Irish speciality), toast and a cooked breakfast. My mum is quite a fussy eater and Mary made her scrambled eggs and toast and I had a full Irish breakfast with bacon, sausages, cherry tomatoes, black and white pudding and a fried egg. The house seemed to be full when we stayed and there were seven people in for breakfast but all our food was served promptly. The guesthouse is approx 20 mins walk from the beach and about 10 mins walk from the racecourse. We took the dog to the beach and walked for about two hours. This is an excellent guesthouse - the best we've stayed in and highly recommended.
