“We loved it, and would recommend it to everyone!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2011

We stayed in Cliff House a few weeks ago. We came from Limerick as its to expensive to go abroad and we picked Cliff House because it looked lovely from their website.

We were brought around by the son, Kevin, who was very helpful and accommodating. Gave us a tour of the house before bringing us into our room. Was a nice welcome and not what we expected - assumed he would be just given our keys and told where the room was and left to do everything else ourselves but this was not the case.

We availed of a three night special in the house which was great value and explored the town, the city and the South East during our stay. Really enjoyed it and we have decided to send our parents down here as a gift for the August race weekend.

Cant fault the B&B. Lovely people, lovely surroundings, and lovely breakfast.

Will be back again no doubt and I hope my parents enjoy it as much as we did.

“Had a great time, will definitely recommend to others”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2011

Stayed in Cliff House in May 2011 with a large group. Have to say, I highly recommend this as the best B&B we have ever stayed in during our visit to Ireland. The service was second to none, and was better than staying in a typical hotel we all agreed on. Will definitely recommend this to friends and family and hope to visit it again.

Our rooms were very spacious and had a stunning view -- for once a B&B that offered uninterrupted views lived up to the expectation (a first for us!). There was free internet in the rooms and also in the lounge, which was great. We used the computer in the hallway also, as we had only one laptop with us - it came in very useful for confirming flight details for everyone in the group. There was a public phone in the hallway we didn't need to use but its a great idea. The host (Hilary) was very nice to us throughout our stay and extremely helpful, she gave us the main cordless phone to book ahead and made a number of recommendations which turned out great.

Breakfast we had lots of choice and went with the French Toast - absolutely gorgeous. Some might find ordering the night before inconvenient but it didn't bother us and didn't seem to bother anyone else in the lounge that morning. Its still cooked fresh and they give very generous portions for everything. Best breakfast in a longtime and I still crave the french toast!! We also had the traditional Irish "fry" and Crepes. All of which were excellent.

Great B&B, great hosts and highly recommend it for anybody travelling to the area. The gardens are very big so it seems suitable for families, and even for couples they have lots of outdoor seating and the gardens are well landscaped so its romantic for the old heart! Great views from the garden of Tramore Bay.

Well worth a visit and our only regret was not being able to stay longer. Hopefully if we can get over again we can get the balcony rooms, we were shown the view before we left and its even better than our own room!! Thanks to Kevin for fixing our laptop when we were stranded on arrival, we would be lost without it!

5 Stars, Not 4!!

Sincerely,

Jim Horton

“Best place we've ever stayed at”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

We stayed at Cliff House for several days and enjoyed our stay enormously. The room was spacious, spotless clean and very comfortable. The view of the park-like garden and the view of the sea in the distance gave us much pleasure. The breakfast was very delicious and we were looking forward to it every morning. We also enjoyed the big and sunny conservatory to relax after a day spent sightseeing. The hosts, Pat and Hilary, were very friendly and caring. It's certainly a place we'll return to some time and can only recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet and pleasant place to enjoy their visit to Ireland.

“Best B&B in Tramore - my favourite!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

I visit Ireland a few times in the year both for business and once for leisure. Tramore is one of my favourite spots and when staying in this state, I try stay in the Cliff House guesthouse. This was to be my second visit and it was a very nice stay. I met just the owner, Hilary, as Pat was away. She was very friendly and helpful, and most accommodating. She helped me arrange to get my luggage delivered to her home (my airline misplaced it) and was recommending all the nice places to eat.

I was in one of the balcony rooms, lucky enough to get some nice weather so the view was stunning. Its a nice spacious room, which is hard to come by in guesthouses - hotels are built to have bigger beds and rooms, guesthouses are generally smaller but this room was very nice and suited me perfectly. The rooms had a mini guest directory with maps of Tramore, the beach, and the townland surrounding. There was a nice brochure on the town which came in handy. Second visit to the town but a lot was changed.

Some lovely displays of Waterford Crystal throughout the house, including two chandeliers. I can never get over the amount of choices they have on the breakfast menu compared to a hotel and other guesthouses, but this time they had new items including "Tripe". We did have to pick a time for breakfast and make the order before morning, but I understand its due to the amount of choice and time it takes in preparing it. The lounge had some nice selection of beverages and snacks, including Tea & Coffee. Plenty of restaurant menus also.

Overall, still found this a very nice guesthouse on my second visit. In short, very friendly service, internet access (WiFi and Wired), big breakfast menu, private car park, large gardens, and nicely sized rooms.

There are some fantastic guesthouses in Ireland, I would strongly recommend people stay in these over hotels. Its different, but worth it in a lot of cases. Guesthouses are graded just like hotels, so you know what you are getting.

“Highly recommendable”

On arrival we had a lovely warm welcome and were given a welcoming cup of tea. Our room was extremely comfortable with lovely bay views.
There are very good walks that one can take from the house all along the cliffs.
Our only regret was that we could not stay for longer.
