“Good value hotel in great location”

Having read some of the other reviews I was a little anxious about our booking. However we had no problem with our reservation, the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The rooms were clean and well fitted. The hotel was fully booked and busy. A full Irish breakfast was provided. The breakfast buffet was restocked with freshly cooked bacon, sausage etc even though we were ate breakfast late. Parking is available in the hotel car park in front of the hotel a major plus when Kilkee is busy. The hotel is in a good location so that it is easy to walk 5 minutes to the beach front , bars and restaurants in the town. This hotel provides excellent value for money.

“A bit tired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

We stayed here for the bank holiday weekend. Overall the hotel is ok. The bedroom we had was a bit run down. There were marks on the Walls, the toilet seat moved when you sat on it and the curtains on the windows were full of mould stains.

Both mornings when we went for breakfast the tables were all dirty and we had to wait around for one to be cleaned and reset. They need extra staff for breakfast.

The location is great, just a short walk to the beach. The staff are all very nice and the owners were very helpful.

“Kilkee Bay Hotel left us out in the cold for Hen Party, Ennis came to the rescue!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

We had booked accomodation for 35 people Sat of Aug bank hol in the Kilkee Bay for a hen party. When suddenly we got a call a few weeks before saying that they wouldnt have taken this booking it was a mistake and that we had to stay minimum two nights. Even though we had it in an email that it was confirmed. Very poor form, the manager was very ignorant too! Lucky for us, we got accomodation for the same night in The West County in Clare. Staff were very accomadating and rates were resonable. Ate in the Town Hall restaurant in Ennis, absolutely fab! The pubs/clubs were very welcoming, gave us champers and food. Which we found very strange as places usually frown upon Hen parties. So all in all, Ennis thumbs up for Hen party. Kilkee is a fab place but don't get caught in the Kilkee Bay!

“Awful hotel do not stay here!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

We stayed in this hotel on the 25th July and all I can say is Oh my god!!! Its amazing that this hotel is still open. The receptionist was rude and the manager wasnt much better. I booked through their booking agent Veneer and when we turned up we were informed that there was no booking?? We were attending a funeral and had driven five hours to be met with complete incompetence. When we eventually got to our room it looked like our bed had already been slept in and the bedclothes were all torn! It said on their website that the hotel had been fully refurbished recently am not sure what they refurbished because our room was like something from the 1970's. There is nothing in the hotel apart from rooms their restaurant and leisure centre is closed permanently.

“Won't recommend”

Hotel in need of restoration: beds are uncomfortable, rooms are noisy, toilet was broken. Would advise to look for another hotel on the internet or drive another 10 mins to look for another hotel; it will be 10 mins well spent.
