“Nice, quiet clean hotel in a good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

They had a room available for us at 9:30am after a long flight and drive up from Shannon which was very much appreciated. The room was larger than I expected and the bathroom was new and spotless. Staff was scarce but very helpful. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant but the breakfast was ok and plentiful. Short walk to small town with a handful of pubs and shops.

“Wish I had more time to spend there”

The hotel was exactly what we needed: lovely location -- proximity to Burren and coast -- good layout with a nice room for gathering with friends, very friendly staff (although a bit overworked), agreeable pub (danced to a good band providing a mix of originals and covers). Had I more time, I would have availed myself of the spa services and taken the Woods Walk which I heard was sublime.

“The Burren - Not to be Missed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

Just returned from a wonderful three day two nights supervalue getaway break in the Burren, Co.Clare. We stayed at the Burren Coast Hotel -which was perfect for what we were after. The hotel has a fantastic location - a gateway to the Burren itself. The rooms were perfect - beds fine, everything clean and tidy, twin beds put together which doesnt bother us. The hotel didnt seem very buisy but that was because everyone was out exploring the Burren itself during the day. We only realised how many people were staying at breakfast time. On Tuesday night the hotel had a band playing which were fantastic. Breakfast in the hotel was perfect also and staff were efficient and friendly. We couldnt say one thing bad about the place. We also enjoyed the spa on our second day after hiking around the burren for 4 hours on the previous day. Edel was great - had a lovely facial and pedicure. We went on a guided walking tour of the Burren with Shane Connolly - he was excellent - very informative and knowledgable aswell as a good sense of humour. Whilst staying in Ballyvaughan we went to the only local Italian Restaurant (L'Arco) for dinner - well it was a real treat, great service, great food and didnt break the bank either! The owner even recommended us to visit the Cliffs of Moher at night to see the sunset rather than during the day when its thronged with visitors. We did just that, headed to Lehinch for dinner and then drove up to the cliffs - around 8:30pm, didnt have to pay for parking, didnt have to pay any entrance fee...ok so all the tourist shops were closed but that didnt bother us..it was gorgeous. One word of advice when you ascend up towards the cliffs take the right turn and head up the steps - much better views from the right side. We also visited the Ailwee Caves whcih were excellent laso expecially the bird show. All in all we truely enjoyed our few days in Ballyvaughan, Fenore, Lehinch and The Cliffs of Moher - the beautiful weather also helped!

“Nice hotel with a great spa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

We stayed for two nights at the Burren Coast Hotel. We liked the stylish interior, the room was spacious and comfortable.

The best about this hotel is the spa. After hiking through the Burren in the Irish rain we enjoyed very much relaxing in the spa.

There is a bar, which is nice in the evening. The food was ok, staff very friendly and the price really reasonable.

“Beauty is only skin deep”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2010

This hotel looks great, but so much is wrong. They are minimally staffed with no one at reception. The room looked good at a glance, but the king bed was 2 twins pushed together so my husband and I kept falling into the crevice between. The duvet was so small it couldn't cover us both. The shower spewed water all over the bathroom so we had to clean it up. The sink in the bath was so tiny it could have been in an airplane. All the mirrors were about the height of someone 4.5 feet tall. We had no cold water in the morning, so no showers possible in scalding water. Also, the shower head was adjustable with lowest being hip-high and highest being chest-high. Weird. They had a band the night we were there, so we ate in the bar and the food was terrible. I will say the staff were nice and tried, but structurally the place is a mess. We found out the next day that the company who owns it is in liquidation. I wouldn't stay here unless you find out it's under new management and they've taken care of these serious problems.
