Kearney's Castle is an older hotel. Part of its ground floor includes medieval walls, very cute. It is a bona fide hotel, not a B&B, but breakfast is included in the room rate. You could not find a more convenient location to access the many charms of this wonderful little community.
We had no reservation and landed there on a Friday afternoon. The owner warned us that there would be noise from the disco next door, and also there was a hurling match between bitter rivals, and afterwards there would be more noise. She told us where we could find other, quiet options. But we liked the place and the location and took a chance. She gave us a room in the back, which was actually pretty quiet and spacious. The room had no window but had a large skylight. It was very clean, had two twin beds, a nice shower, etc. The rate was reasonable.
There is a proper restaurant/pub in the hotel, and they had good food and good service.
There is free parking in a lot behind the hotel. The town of Cashel is totally charming and lively, and it has much more to offer than The Rock.
We walked to all areas of interest from the hotel, and the downtown area felt completely safe at night, in spite of a few very tipsy hurling fans being towed home by their wives.
Great accomodation, great little town.
