I stayed there for two nights with my girlfriend. The breakfast was nice; they had a good selection available. The hotel was quite considering the amount of people staying there that weekend. The room was ok although the cleanness was not up to standard. A couch in the room had various stains on it. Even a light hearted clean would have got some of them out, so it certainly had not been cleaned in a while. In the wardrobe a pair or men’s underwear was located on the top self along with quite a bit of dust, which shows that nobody had cleaned it in a while and that no supervisor had carried out a spot check on the room. Other than that it’s a nice hotel with friendly staff.

We won a two night B and B break with 1 evening meal which we decided to use last night to celebrate my birthday and me getting a new job! Unfortuately we were only able to stay 1 night due to childcare problems but our night away was brilliant. We arrived around 4pm and check in was no problem at all. Our room was lovely decorated, warm and clean. Only complaint we could possibly make is that there wasn't a "double" bed, just 2 singles pushed together. Not what I had in mind when planning a romantic night away! We walked into the town which was a good walk and I can see the attraction of the castle etc, in better weather it would be lovely. Our meal in the bar was one of the best we have had. The barman was very friendly, attentive and had the entire place under control. We were not rushed between courses but not left sitting for ages either. Breakfast was again of a very high standard this morning. We would return again not a problem and would recommend this to couples wanting a special night away together

We booked this hotel through citydeal and got an absolute bargain as this is a lovely hotel. Modern and stylish, close to Athlone town centre (although it's a quite hilly walk so leave your stilettos behind - or get a taxi). Athlone was a great spot with good bars, great restauarants and good shopping. I wold defnitely recommend staying at the Shamrock Lodge. My only compliant, was the cooked breakfast didn't seem to be cooked to order and was overdone (but still nice).

My recent visit included a reception a meal and an extended gathering of friends..
The food was excellent and well presented.The service was so smooth it went unnoticed.The staff were very helpful and any request was always taken on board.
