The website warned that photos might not match the actual room allocated ...how right they were! The room was small and rather bare; fake wood flooring, a few bits of mismatched furniture, flourescent lights and an old portable tv fitted on a bracket to the ceiling! Bedtime was a treat - the pine bed made the most horrendous 'cracking' noise if we moved an inch, so we spent the whole night lying rigid in case it collapsed! The bedside lamp did not work either but it did not matter really, as we could read well by the light of the flood lights outside aimed directly at the bedroom window ..even illuminating the dust trails hanging from the ceiling (photos if needed). We gave up on the tv as not only did it give us a bad neck but the picture was rotten and only got 3 channels ...and one of those was in Gaelic! The bathroom was small and pokey; the blind was dirty and mouldy, and then fell down when we tried to use it. Don't bother trying to get hot water in the evening either, as it is turned off!!!! Not once during our stay was reception manned, guests are told to ring a bell for attention - we rang it 5 times (waiting between each ring) but no-one came. We tried to get attention by knocking on the door to the private quaters and were rewarded with an A4 sheet left on the desk with our key telling us to phone them if we need them in future ....what made it even more insulting was that it was addressed 'Dear Sirs', as a well endowed woman travelling with her husband I was more than insulted. There is no lift for disabled visitors or any help with luggage. Internet access is from a 2nd floor bedroom, so again no good for the disabled.
Breakfast was good but did not make up for the rest of the problems.
We found everyone in Ireland so friendly and helpful but the owners of this lodge do not even tell guests their names, they are always the management or staff ...not good.
