“Best place to stay inn Clonakilty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stay here regularly and it's far and away the best place to stay in Clonakilty. Rooms are a great size with comfy beds and large bathrooms. Internet is fast and more importantly free. The breakfast is brilliant with a huge choice and is comparable to a four or five star hotel.

The pace is spotless and the prices are incredibly reasonable but the best of all is the service you get from Dave the manager and the staff. They will go out of their way to help you and make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 1st floor for best internet and facing the rear of the hotel for the quietest.

“Lovely little hotel/B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Townhouse at the end of January for one night.
The hotel was really good value and this was the first reason we booked it. The hotel is located at the end of the main street, just a few minutes away from the bus stop. While being in the centre, it is still in a quiet location as there are no pubs in the immediate vicinity.
On arrival, we were greeted very warmly by the staff. My husband was even treated to a lovely cappuccino after arrival.
We stayed in a double room facing the back of the hotel. Noise level 0 at night so that was great. The room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was also squeaky clean; there were free toiletries and massive bath towels (that was really great as lots of hotels tend to have bath towels that are too small).
You could access the upper levels by lift or stairs so this is a plus really for people with heavy luggage or disabilities.
No fancy screen TV in our room but still a TV in perfect working order. In any case there was a great flat screen TV downstairs in the lounge that anyone could use.
The breakfast itself was very good. I really loved that everything was locally sourced (fruit juices, yoghurt, butter, milk, ...). For anything continental, there was a buffet (cereals, bread, scones, yoghurt, juice); service was at the table for anything hot (Irish breakfast of course, French toasts or Pancakes).
Overall a very good stay!

Room Tip: For anyone, sensitive to noise, I guess a room at the back would be best.

“Best Service In Ireland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Wow!!!! The owner really made our trip special. He went out of his way to meet all of our needs. We are from Seattle and came to work there and they had the BEST internet in Ireland. We will only stay here again when we come back to Ireland. Really great price as well. Fabulous breakfast and the service was superior. Great stay that we will always remember!! Thanks to the staff!

“The only place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We stayed for 4 nights in room 11 (front of hotel on the main road) with no problems at all. We couldn't even hear the hen parties. The room was nicely fitted out and very clean. Having the on-site car park was very beneficial as parking on the street would have been a bit of a trial.
Breakfast was superb every day, I even managed to get my wife to try the excellent black pudding.
David and staff couldn't do enough for us. We watched the World Cup rugby with him and a few guests in the reception area at 6AM, a pity that Ireland lost....
We went to Galway but then came back for another 3 nights instead of staying in mid-Ireland as the experience that we had at the hotel and the pubs in Clonakilty was so good (especially de Barra's).
I would recommend this hotel without hesitation and would go back for another stay if we are lucky enough to return to Ireland one day.
