“Don't believe the reviews you read here.”

My family stayed at Drom Caoin in July 2011, and we were surprised at the low quality of the accomodations. Having read all the rave reviews on the web, we had been looking forward very much to our stay there. We loved Belmullet, but this B&B was inferior to every other B&B we've stayed in in the west of Ireland, and that includes at least 25 (in Kerry, Galway, Clare, and other places) over the past 30 years. Some details: our room was uncomfortable; the mattresses were lumpy, the room was ugly, the bathroom was inconvenient, and it was full of bugs. At breakfast we had to wait 15 minutes for coffee, delayed while Mrs. Murphy asked every member of our party how he or she had enjoyed himself or herself the day before. The questioning had no special warmth; it seemed rather routine. And we were dying for coffee. We had some urgent questions when we arrived, but one of the Murphys was always on the phone and unable to talk to us. -- I would return to Belmullet, but not to Drom Caoin.

“Excellent B&B, Fantastic Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

My brother and I travelled to Belmullet to do some family history research, we stayed at the Drom Caoin for 3 nights and it was wonderful. Mairin & Gerry are the perfect hosts and the breakfasts are second to none. Mairin was very helpful with our research and knows all the history of the area and people which was very useful. Belmullet and the mullet peninsula is very scenic and we visited some really nice spots. We will probably return to Belmullet in the future and if we do we will Definitely stay at Drom Caoin

“Now you can have a whiskey tasting!”

My last stay in July 2011 was terrific as always. Comfortable room and wonderful company. Always a wonderful breakfast. Now our innkeeper, Mairin Maguire-Murphy is a spirits expert (the dirnking kind). One evening after dinner Mairin led us through a tasting of six Irish and scotch whiskeys. Be sure to ask!

“Good B&B”

I travelled with family to Belmullet to attend a family wedding in Cornboy and later in the day the evening reception was held at the Broadhaven Bay Hotel. We stayed 2 nights at the Drom Caoin B&B, we booked 2 double rooms and 1 single room. All our rooms were comfortable and clean and had ensuite bathrooms (a bit basic - I prefer staying at hotels, but the Broadhaven was a bit too expensive ;-). The owners were helpful, letting us use their ironing facilities, borrowing hairdryers, etc. The location of the Drom Caoin is stunning, Belmullet is a beautiful area. Compared to the 2nd B&B we stayed in on the 3rd night, this was a good choice!
