“Fab B&B”

What a fabulous B&B. Amanda is a very hospitable host & made us feel very welcome. Located in a tranquil position just outside Kenmare with a lovely garden to enjoy afternoon tea. Beautifully extended house with all the equipment you would expect from an above average B&B. Good value & no complaints, except my wife now wants to move there! Ask Amanda to show you the secret path to the coast - its a great place to hide our for a few hours - just a 10min walk.

“fantastic bed and breakfast and excellent quality and value”

What a lovely bed and breakfast!

We came across it quite by chance on the ring of Beara road just outside Kenmare.

We liked the out of town location, you need a car to get to a lot of places in Ireland anyway. Can't understand the previous reviewer thinking it was too far out of town? I would say this was a positive aspect of the location; peace and quiet, fantastic view and central for all the attractions of ring of kerry, Beara and Killarney.

From the moment we set eyes on the place we were so pleased to have come across it;it was really nice, tastefully decorated and was finished with quality furnishings.

The room we stayed in was in the loft, sounds like the previous reviewer stayed in the same room too. I did not agree with their comments at all; i found the room to be lovely and charming. As far as the guest lounge was concerned it was a very welcome addition to the b&b and served its purpose over and above what you would normally expect from such a place;dvds, books, hot and cold beverages, cooler fridge, wine glasses and corkscrew, tv and dvd player comfortable chairs and a small window with a gigantic view of the hillside; pretty as a picture! The benefits of a seperate room to relax in are great for the family who may have children in bed or for those who want to relax away from the bedroom.

Breakfast is served in the lovely conservatory and is of good quality
and plentiful..no complaints about the food at all.

we were shown round the rest of the b&b by the owner upon our request, as we admired what a lovely home she had made. The other guest rooms were downstairs and had varying bed configurations and were just as nice as our own; again finished to a very high standard.

Outside there is parking for several cars and there is a patio area and bbq available for the guests to use.

This place is suitable for a whole range of travellers whos needs will be met more than adequately. Near by is Kenmare town, fishing, golf, horse riding, nature and boat trips, cycling, motor cycling, classic car enthusiasts, sightseeing and so much more..Special interest groups are more than welcome too; i was told that any help if needed to plan activities and routes would be available. The owners i gather are very experienced in travel around Ireland as they had holidayed consistenty there over a number of years before coming to Kenmare to live.

I would definately stay at this b&b again and would recommend it without hesitation. Well deserved praise and not deserving of the previous negative review.

“Outside of Kenmare Village”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2006

SheenView is clean and new, and the hostess is warm and friendly. This B&B is located about 5 minutes drive from the Kenmare village. The location was quiet and peaceful, though I would have preferred to be within easy walking distance to the town centre (especially since parking there can be difficult). Our bedroom was in the wood panel loft and was opposite a small sitting room. The sitting room was the only upstairs room with a small view from a small window. It was equiped with a TV and tea and coffee making facilities, and a selection of books and magazines. The bedroom was large with both a queen and single bed. The shower was ok (difficult to regulate temperature and little water pressure), and the toilet was difficult to flush. The sleigh bed frame was new, but I suspect that the mattress was not. The pillows were small, and the bed was made up with only a heavy winter weight duvet. A flat sheet and lighter weight duvet would have made for more comfortable summer sleeping. The room would probably be warm and cozy in winter, but I would have preferred somewhere with higher ceilings so I didn't hit my head getting out of bed. Breakfast was disappointing. I had the porriage with Baileys, which was pleasant and distinctively Irish (again would have been wonderful on a cold winter morning). My partner's scrambled eggs were served on untoasted bread and were accompanied by small shreds of salmon (as compared to the two generous slices of smoked salmon provided for breakfast at other B&Bs visited). Other guests ordered the continential breakfast and were given a large dinner plate that showed off the very small portions of cheese and single piece of ham. Their faces told the story as they shuffled food amongst themselves trying to ensure everyone had enough to eat. The potential of this B&B has yet to be realized.

We at SheenView take exception to the above review and have checked all our records and can find NO people who stayed in SheenView that came from London Via Trip Advisor and hence are at a loss as to how they could review our B&B.
We have a Guest register with many many glowing appraisals of the service we offer and provide. Teh B&B is advertised as being outside Kenmare so how the people can complain that it was not in town is beyond me ?
As for the lounge having a "small window with a small view" the upstairs lounge has a approx 5' X 4' Window with unrivalled views of the Macgillicuddy Reeks including Carrantuohill Irelands highest mountain at 3314 ft being right in the middle of the window ! Have a look at our web site photo's to see for yourself
As for Breakfast If the lady though the porridge was better for winter time then why did she order it in July ??
We can only assume that this was one couple which spent one night with us having been passed on from another B&B in Kenmare, maybe they were disappointed at having to move ?
We can HONESTLY state that NO complaint was registered at the time or privately since so to publish this type of poisonous opinion is very vindictive and uncalled for

Please check us out for yourselves and see how wrong they are

Regards

Peter & Amanda (Owners of SheenView B&B)
