“Amazing experience”

We stayed at Park Hyatt Hadahaa in early December 2011 for a week. This was the sixth time we visited Maldives and Park Hyatt Hadahaa is undoubtedly the best compared to the other resorts we have visited, such as Soneva Gili, Anantara and several others. We were staying at Park Water Villa, the design of the room is modern and very functional. The house reef is absolutely amazing as it is very well conserved, perhaps one of the best in Maldives. You have to see it yourself to believe it. There are a lot of corals right below our water villa and marine life around us was stunning. We didn’t’ have to snorkel far, perhaps less than 30 meters from our water villa, and we spotted lobsters of about 1.5 feet (body size), sting rays and turtles. As this is Park Hyatt, we expected very high service level and indeed the hotel did not disappoint us. Our host Shifaz is very attentive and made our stay very comfortable. The diving experience was superb. We started off with 2 dives at the house reef, it was absolutely beautiful. Boat dives was well organized and we were the only 2 divers on board and we decided where we wanted to dive. Light snacks, coffee and teas were provided for in between the dives. The 2nd last day before left, we saw 1 manta, 2 leopard sharks, a school of 15 eagle rays, at least 20 turtles (one of them was swimming with us for almost 3 minutes), many grey reef sharks, napoleons, sting rays. We enjoyed that dive site so much that we even repeated our 2nd dive there and it was equally amazing. As we returned to the boat after that, we even saw 3 pilot whales at the outer reef not far from our boat. This topped the best diving experience I had as a advance diver for more than 10 years. Thanks Ashfaq for bringing us these wonderful diving experiences. Glad that we don’t have to wait too long as we are visiting Park Hyatt Hadahaa again in early April 2012.

Room Tip: All the water villas are equal in size and same layout.

Dear Jonathan C,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review of our beautiful resort and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. We do strive to offer our guests the highest luxury service and it is something we genuinely enjoy delivering.
We are very pleased that you had the opportunity to experience our beautiful Water Villa- it truly is an amazing feeling when you look out from the villa and all you can see is the crystal clear blue ocean.
Our house reef is unique and very special, without a doubt the most important feature of our island and certainly something you have to see to believe. In fact, research published at the end of 2010 found that our house reef had the greatest live coral cover of any of the reef system across the Maldives. The abundance of different species of fish that the coral attracts really is extraordinary and we are pleased to hear that you spotted one of our resident Hawksbill turtles, unfortunately a critically endangered species.
Thank you for your comments about Shifaz and Ashfaq, I will be sure to congratulate them both for there efforts, more hidden gems of which we are very proud.
You are most welcome any time to come back and visit and we very much look forward to trying to make your experience even better!
Once again, thank you so much for your review and for having chosen the Park Hyatt for your Maldivian adventure!
Warmest regards- Pierre

“Glorious stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I had a weeklong points stay here over New Year and it was just wonderful. Having read every one of the reviews I was pretty sure it would be great, and can confirm the old reviews don’t reflect the current state of the Resort. I'd love to go back again!

We stayed in both a Beach villa and Water Villa for part of our stay. Both are beautiful and offer very different experiences - I’m glad we tried both. Don't assume that the Water Villas are "the Best" because they're the most expensive - they're amazing and different but if you're more a beach person then Beach or Pool villa's may suit you better. Personally i loved snorkeling right off the Water villa's - we had small sharks, an Eagle Ray and all kinds of fish swim right by us.

Staff here are very friendly and helpful – from the GM down we had nothing but great, friendly service. When problems did arise they were fixed quickly and to our satisfaction.

Food is good. Not great but good. The hotel seems to be aware of this and staff mentioned that they were making changes. Breakfast is the best - very substantial and a lot of choices. Lunch is where I felt they fell flat – the all-day menu is more suited for dinner than lunch and I hope they work on this. I'd like to see lighter choices on the menu - sushi, sandwiches, simple fresh grilled fish for example. As others have said, prices are expensive - comparable to eating at an upmarket restaurant in NYC - but considering the location it is to be expected.

Activities are great and varied. My wife described her diving as some of the best she’s ever seen and snorkeling was great also. Our favorite activity was the “Private Island” – 4 hours total, private boat takes you out to a private island where lunch and wine/champagne are waiting. They leave you here and return to collect you.

Also, I recommend the guided snorkeling. You spend time with the resident marine biologist learning about the reef then she accompanies you snorkeling – well worth it.

A couple of random points

Transfers from Male. Depending on your flights in and out of Male you may have quite a bit of waiting in the lounge in Male – nothing the resort can do about this as there are only a few flights daily but it does add to your journey time so be aware of it.

The Spa was operating as usual while we were there – despite reports about closures ordered by the Maldivian government. The new Hyatt operated Spa apparently took over at the beginning of December and offers Maldivian focused treatments. My wife tried it and enjoyed her service – they’re not cheap but in line with typical NYC prices.

New Gym equipment was put in place in late December, the Gym was closed a couple of days we were there to accommodate this. The new equipment looks good. The gym is on the small side but surrounded by glass so doesn’t feel constricting at all – and it’s not heavily used from what I could see.

Dear bradcnyc,
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are delighted that you had the opportunity to experience both our land and water villas. They both offer a unique experience.
Thank you also for your wonderful comments about my team. I am delighted to hear that they lived up to your expectations and I will pass on the message to them all. We always strive to provide our guests with an exceptional service where all your worries are taken care of.
As for food, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast. We are in the middle of making changes to our all-day menu where we will offer lighter dishes for lunch. We hope you can return so you can sample them yourselves!
The other activities that we offer are something which makes us unique to other resorts. We are pleased to hear that your wife enjoyed her scuba diving adventure and we are so lucky to be in a place where the underwater landscape is as plentiful and untouched. Arabella, our resident marine biologist, is always so informative about the hidden delights of the ocean! Our tailor made excursions like the picnic and snorkel trip on an uninhabited island is an experience like no other and we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed yourselves. If you manage to come back again you should experience some of our other excursions like our traditional Maldivian fishing trip or our sunset cruise aboard our luxury yacht.
The Vidhun Spa is always popular amongst our guests and we are pleased that your wife sampled the traditional Maldivian rituals and treatments that we have on offer.
Although we are located in such a remote part of the world, the journey time can be quite long but we ensure you that when you arrive on our island you will blown away by it’s beauty and tranquility.
Once again thank you so much for your kind review and for having chosen the Park Hyatt for your holiday. We very much hope to welcome you back soon!

“BEST Holiday Ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

My husband and I had just returned from our Honeymoon and we absolutely loved Hyatt Hadahaa. We arrived at Male international airport where a Hyatt representative met us. After that, we took a 1 hour flight followed by a 45 minutes speed boat to reach the island. During the ride on the speed boat, the crew of 5 men constantly asked if I felt ok as I was prone to seasickness. Upon arrival, the staff of the hotel met us right on the jetty with buggies and it was very welcoming.

The villas are absolutely beautiful!!! Big bedroom with a living area and a well-stocked mini bar, separated by a sliding door from the huge bathroom. It is a spacious room with built in wardrobes, huge bath tub (accommodates 2 adults very comfortably), a rain shower, brightly lit mirrors, etc. We were really impressed by the comfort and the amenities of the room. We also received letters of invitation from the management of the hotel, informing us of special events organised each night.

The staff are extremely attentive yet unobtrusive. Our personal host was great and looked after us throughout our stay. He did everything for us - booking the Spa, making dinner arrangements, planning sea excursions etc. So, we literally did not have to lift a finger to do anything, except dial our personal host’s mobile phone from our in-room cordless phone. Incidentally, the cordless phone came in handy as I was hanging out a lot at the patio outside the room. I was able to leave the phone next to me while I was sunbathing outside the villa. The food was fantastic and we were well looked after in all the restaurants. If you wanted something which is not on the menu, they will cook it for you upon request. There were several items I was not to eat on doctor’s orders and the kitchen staff were very accommodating.

The house reef has lots of healthy coral, fishes etc. I managed a few snorkelling trips which was excellent. I think it's also worth mentioning that internet access is free. Other complimentary treats include afternoon tea & cakes served daily at the Doni at 4pm, and cocktails for Hyatt Diamond members at Bells Bar at sundown. The sophisticated telescope in the library is also available on loan to view the exquisite stars and star constellations that come out at night. Don’t miss the spectacular sighting of the universe in the sky, unfortunately we were not aware of the telescope till the last day. The island is not very big, but yet we hardly ever bumped into anyone else except during breakfast! It seemed as if we were on our own private island most of the time. Hadahaa and its 360-degree views of the surrounding ocean are breathtakingly beautiful. The ambience we felt on the island, thanks to its architecture and service staff, was unforgettable. We could barely bear to leave the paradise island retreat at the end of our stay.

In a nutshell, we had a splendid time and would recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious escape. We definitely will be back next year!

Dear Tintedpurple,
Thank you for your wonderful review of our beautiful resort. I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay and my team and I lived up to your expectations.
I have made a note to ensure we do make all guests aware of our telescope, thank you for pointing this out. One of the truly remarkable features of the resort is our proximity to the equator, enabling us to view the star patterns of both the northern and southern hemispheres; it really is a sight to be seen. The fact we have no light pollution or environmental pollution in our sky only adds to the clarity and proliferation of stars you can see in the sky of an evening, yet another of natures remarkable gifts.
I will be sure to pass your comments on to your personal host, on his behalf thank you for your kind words. Our aim is that you simply do as little or as much as you choose and really unwind and relax whilst you are with us. Our part of the world is too special not take time to stop and fully appreciate.
Please do let me know when you are ready to visit us again, we have been making a number of improvements to the facilities on the island and we know these will only further enhance this jewel we are so blessed to be able to share with you.
With warmest regards - Pierre

“MY PERFECT JOURNEY IN PARADISE”

My first review will contribute to Park Hyatt, and I would like to give all my credits to this amazing island and all their super friendly staffs.
Lucky for me, I wasn't tampered with the bad reviews for Park Hyatt, I still believed in my first love in sight. We lived in both beach and water villas. Island provides super privacy for all the guests who are looking for a real peaceful and relaxing destination. It is a super quite island and you will not be disturbed by any other people and even you may not see any one in public beach and swimming pool if you are 'not' lucky. We went to the public pool every night(cos I can't swim and need some practice for snorkelling)seemd that it was our private pool^^
Still remembered the scene that we arrived at first day, I was so impressed by the welcome backguound music which had been playing before we steped in, checked in at our own villa, and after drinking the welcome drink, I had really been cheered up even we just off the long term transportation, yes, it was not so easy to reach paradise~ but belive me, it worthy everything.
Me and my husband held a small wedding ceremony on the island, we were surprised to be told that we were the first couple who was going to have a wedding vow since Hyatt took over the management.OMG~ I do have the connection with Hyatt in my life^^
Do not missing snorkeling even you can not swim like me, you will be impressed those beautiful marine life which are just in everywhere, the underwater world was amazing. But make sure to apply more than enough sun block.
You will have a breathtaking ocean view in water villa 51. Not like many other water villas in ohter island, Hadahaa only has one line aqua villas which will definitely provide more unblocked ocean view and much more privacy.
Park Hyatt will give eveything you are expecting or unexpecting!

Dear Superelyn,
You certainly do have a connection with us for life! Thank you for holding such a special celebration with us, it was our privilege and our pleasure.
It was wonderful you got to experience both the land and the water villas, to be sure it is very difficult to say which is better, they both offer such an amazing experience.
We do pride ourselves on the privacy and intimacy of the island, that is one of the things that makes us so special, it feels like your own private piece of paradise that you don’t have to share with anybody else in the world.
Thank you for your wonderful comments about my team, I will be sure to share them with everyone, it is great news to know we have delivered your dreams come true.
We hope to welcome you back, for an anniversary visit perhaps…?

Just back from one week spent in that heavenly place that is Park Hyatt Hadahaa. It is not easy to reach , some flights connections from Male could take ,as happened to us, nearly two hours(some flights they do make a stopover on another island ) to reach the small airport from where another hour of speedy boat will take you to this gorgeous island
The island is enchanted, the decor sublime , I mean who did the design there needs to receive an award for the purity of the lines, for the elegance that reigns all over, understated and immaculate . Villas leaves no wishes undone, the bathroom is huge with a portion outside and
another one indoor . Toiletries are so amazingly reach and creamy to give you a great feeling anytime you use them. The villas we stayed in number 18 has a private small pool and a huge lounge sofa to enjoy while sipping a glass of champagne preciously offered by the hotel .
Each day in your room you will get some sweeties and fruits to dilute your hunger .
Accomodation has anything you might need , well made electrical and lighting equipment, a well working wifi (remember where you are) and a useful Nespresso machine .
From our villas there was unfortunately no sea view but access to the beach is a mere 10 steps away
There are two restaurants on the island, one international and where breakfast is served (thanks God here breakfast is still made to order ) and the second one called Batuta that is open only for dinner and serves amazingly rich maldivian-indian oriented food, here you will find Shujau and Hamid those are simply the best , Shujau will also arrange any need you might have away from regular menu (ask him to make you the red snapper , half sashimi, half grilled ...divine)
As expectable in this place and in such location ,prices for food is quite high but still tasty and well presented
There is a coffee-tea time each day at 4pm served under the upsided Dhoni used once as reception , there is coktail time at 630 at the bar by bach.pool where Samuel and Sangeeth will take fantastic care of you .
Pool area is fanatstic and wonderully kept, there is a diving center, you can also snorkel out of the jetty and enjoy the stagging beauty of the coral garden , and swim with the thousands of fishes there. Say hallo to the turtles if you catch them
Beach is purely maldivian powder white, sea immaculate and the whole island is peacefully idyllic. So why I did not give them the top rating ? Service can be not so efficient while on th beach where pratically no service is provided , you want something you need to go and ask for it . Nobody is taking care during the day of the sunloungers on the beach and the litter bins have never been emptied during the whole week I was there
My Villa assistant , Shifaz was not informing me about the activities and services offered and I had to know through Marco another useful personality working there
Beach around the Island is not kept as it should , in my week there I had the privilege to meet the general manager only once for 1 minute , In other Isalnds I went to as Kanuhura or Cocoa Island there was each day a time for being greeted ,
Except these small details ,a place that will live in our memories for a long time
Maldives , the truly paradise

Room Tip: Villa 37 has a greta view and location

Thank you so much for your great review, it is always a pleasure to hear from our guests and to hear about how they have enjoyed the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa experience.

Indeed we are very grateful to our natural environment for complimenting our stylish resort so beautifully and to our team for delivering such a combined effort in ensuring a memorable stay for our guests.

We are proud to share with you some improvements we have made to our resort and service since your stay with us and hope that we will see you again soon so your can experience the improvements yourself.

We have recently implemented a diamond beach and pool service which not only means our guests are served wherever they are in these areas as you would expect but that also special welcome drinks are offered to every guest who comes to relax in these areas. We offer sunglass cleaning services and cooling cucumber eye-masks as well as June Jacob's facial mist to refresh and relax the contented faces of our relaxing guests. Cold towels and fresh soft beach towels are also provided whenever our guests desire them and our additional bar staff are also on hand to provide refreshments and snacks all day. Our beaches are very important to us and are lovingly patrolled and cleaned of any unwanted rubbish twice every day. Whilst we want to keep it pristine and free of unnatural refuse we avoid raking and manicuring it so that it remains as natural as possible - just like the rest of our beautiful island.

Just this week we have launched a full experience calendar that includes some unique dining and activity opportunities for our guests. Our Personal Hosts are detailing the experiences to each guest on arrival at their villa so that they can consider the experiences they would like throughout their stay. A daily reminder is also provided to our guests each evening, that reminds them of the activities available to them for the next 3 days so they don't miss out.

I regret I was unable to you, I regularly take time to greet guests every morning and to hear their feedback about their experience during their stay. Unfortunately I was away from the island on a business trip between the 4th and 9th on December. When you visit us again I will the opportunity to share your thoughts with me.

Once again we are very pleased that you chose Park Hyatt for your Maldivian vacation and we look forward to welcoming you back to this idyllic island very soon.

With warmest regards - Pierre
