Stayed for 8 nights with my wife and 2 kids (6 year old and 4 month old). We stayed in 2 bed apartment (# M14). Location is very good for Chesterfield town centre and also for Peak District/Chatsworth House etc. Apartment was clean and with easy access and elevator. Parking space right outside.
It's in a new complex of about 90 apartments with a bar/restaurant annexed to the flats.

Main plus was that the lady who services the apartments (Izabel?) was great and was contactable at any time day or night and over the weekend. She brought fresh towels when we requested them and took out the trash. The apartment is serviced once a week but she offered to help out more if we needed.

Only drawback was the very smelly leather sofa (which we covered in an attempt to mask the smell) and the fact that, although these are self catering apartments, there is no dining table/small breakfast area for us to eat at.

Having stayed at a few of the hotels in Chesterfield I would strongly recommend the Maltinga as an alternative especially with kids as the washing machine and self catering aspect were very valuable.

We would definately stay there again.

Our flights out of the UK were cancelled due to the volcanic ash and we needed to extend our stay. Our usual hotel in Derbyshire was full so we had to search for an alternative. What a wonderful surprise to come across The Maltings in Chesterfield! The apartment has everything you might need and the furnishings, style and appliances are top quality. Its a wonderful alternative to a hotel stay - where you can cook for yourselves, do your own laundry and have a more homely space. It is close to shops and the Fitness First gym is 5 mins away. The only down side was the quality of the bed which was a little too 'springy' for our liking, and the free internet was not very stable. Would we stay again? Most definitely.

Very good apartment, it was essentially like moving into someone's fully furnished flat for the weekend. Well furnished, 32" flatscreen tv and free wireless internet were a welcome bonusas well! My only gripe is that the boiler wasn't very good; it didn't provide enough hot water for two showers. Other than that, an excellent place to stay!

A lovely spacious apartment. Beautifully kept, clean, and with breakfast items and staples like tea/milk included. Not much more you could ask for.

Two small criticisms
- the hot water is timed for the morning, a switch can be used to heat it on demand. Despite pressing the switch an hour in advance of needing it the water was only tepid. Perhaps a longer run up was required but it was disappointing all the same.
- the bed was a small double and the matress was probably cheap as it was quite uncomfortable. A topper would fix this!
