We usually stay in hotels but since having a baby we have been put off staying away. The Maltings is the perfect alternative to hotel accom especially if you have children. Almost home from home and very resonably priced for the good quality rooms and fittings. The other reviews say it all really about location, parking etc. Would def stay here again if we were up that way.

The maltings is a excellent place to stay if you are wanting high quality accomodation well located for Chatworth, Bakewell and surrounding areas. The building is clean and well maintatined. Private car parking is provided and the building is secure. The apartment was fashionably decorated with high quality and modern fittings and fixtures. The kitchen comes with standard equipment to enable you to cook a meal. The bathroom is modern and contains a shower-over-bath. High speed wireless internet acces is also provided and is at no extra cost. Overall the location is quite but with pubs restaurants and shope all in walking distance, So if you are looking for somewere different to stay in Chesterfield I would recommend The Maltings

Stayed for 8 nights with my wife and 2 kids (6 year old and 4 month old). We stayed in 2 bed apartment (# M14). Location is very good for Chesterfield town centre and also for Peak District/Chatsworth House etc. Apartment was clean and with easy access and elevator. Parking space right outside.
It's in a new complex of about 90 apartments with a bar/restaurant annexed to the flats.

Main plus was that the lady who services the apartments (Izabel?) was great and was contactable at any time day or night and over the weekend. She brought fresh towels when we requested them and took out the trash. The apartment is serviced once a week but she offered to help out more if we needed.

Only drawback was the very smelly leather sofa (which we covered in an attempt to mask the smell) and the fact that, although these are self catering apartments, there is no dining table/small breakfast area for us to eat at.

Having stayed at a few of the hotels in Chesterfield I would strongly recommend the Maltinga as an alternative especially with kids as the washing machine and self catering aspect were very valuable.

We would definately stay there again.

Our flights out of the UK were cancelled due to the volcanic ash and we needed to extend our stay. Our usual hotel in Derbyshire was full so we had to search for an alternative. What a wonderful surprise to come across The Maltings in Chesterfield! The apartment has everything you might need and the furnishings, style and appliances are top quality. Its a wonderful alternative to a hotel stay - where you can cook for yourselves, do your own laundry and have a more homely space. It is close to shops and the Fitness First gym is 5 mins away. The only down side was the quality of the bed which was a little too 'springy' for our liking, and the free internet was not very stable. Would we stay again? Most definitely.
