“I'd stay there again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

This hotel is a tram ride from the centre of Lyon and so away from the sights and restaurants. However, we were very pleased with the reception we received and very comfortable in our junior suite. As the weather was atrocious we decided to forego the town centre restaurants for which Lyon is famous, and eat in the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised with the 22 euro set meal - both for choice and quality. Similarly breakfast was good value and had everything you would expect. All in all, a good place to stay.

“not a good experience”

To start with the positive thing: the breakfast is excellent, certainly for a French style. For the rest, I was pretty disappointed: no upgrade as a PC platinum member (although they still had better rooms for sale at the same moment !!!) - the website tells that there is a "complementary off site fitness facility", now first of all it is not complementary and secondly it is "15 minutes by car" according to the receptionist; if I assume that 15 minutes at 60 km/h is 15 km, almost every hotel in Lyon will have an off site fitness facility I assume; the hotel in general and especially the rooms are a bit tired, with a nano-desk with no space left as soon as you've put your laptop on it - if you move your pc by an inch, the phone falls on the ground.... The price is not astronomic, but for 125 €/n excl breakfast, I expected something better. Also, the management has not taken the time to react to my message about upgrades and the wrong information about the fitness - that shows that they do not really care. Not recommened!

“Last night in France.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2009

We satyed for a single night because our flight home departed from Lyon, we came from Avignon by TGV.
I thought we had reserved the other Holiday Inn near Part Dieu train station......it turns out, if you are catching an early flight out of Lyon there's no transportation from the hotel except taxi, and that will cost you about €55.
Transportation is easy though, if you take the T1 tram, get off at Le Doua. Good conections to the city center, right next to the university.
I wouldn't stay here again if I was sightseeing, or departing early in the morning from the airport or TGV.

“Great Value in Lyon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2008

We spent two nights here in July 08 using our Holiday Inn Priority Club points. The hotel is in Villeurbane, in the northeast part of Lyon, near La Doua University. In fact, there's a student housing complex attached to the hotel's building. Underground parking is 11 euros per night, and breakfast is, if I recall correctly, 13 euros. The rooms are typically small, but were clean and comfortable, with AC. The staff was very friendly and most helpful, including providing us with maps of Lyon, driving directions, and booking a taxi. Breakfast was quite good, except for the scrambled eggs, which were hideous. It's about a 20 minute walk to one of the loveliest parks we've seen - Parc de la Tête d'Or. It has wonderful walking paths, a gorgeous lake, a botanical garden, and a zoo. What a surprise to see giraffes in Lyon. There's a tram stop at La Doua which is a 5 minute walk to/from the hotel, which connects with the superb Lyon Metro. Around the corner from the hotel is a nice little pizza restaurant which served us a rather good pizza. I imagine it's crowded with students during the school year. Lyon is a delightful city -- Paris-esque, but on a much more accessible scale. The Metro/Tram takes you everywhere you want to go. Tip -- you have to have lunch at Brasserie Georges on Rue Verdun near the Parrache Station -- it's been there since 1836. It may be hard to find, but it's worth it. Budget about 60 euros for lunch for two, including wine, but I promise you won't be disappointed.

“A plesant stay here.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2007

We had a delightful stay at this hotel. Everything went smoothly from check in to check out. The room was fairly large and quite clean. The only negative was the lack of adequate lighting - something that can be said of far too many European hotels.

The location was fine for me, although some people might find it a bit distant from the main tourist attractions of Lyon. The neighborhood was decent, and a main street with shopping possibilities was not too far. I would recommend this hotel.
