My husband and I stayed here for one night while doing some sightseeing on the way to visit friends in the region. We paid e56.60/night (inc tax) for an economy double en suite room, plus e7 each for breakfast so e70.60 in total.
Hôtel du Puy d'Alon is a traditional family-run hotel with a friendly landlady. Our room was a reasonable size, clean, comfortable and charming. One point to note is that they don't provide a hair dryer though, so bring your own!
Guests could also relax in the garden and make use of the refreshing (if quite small) swimming pool. Wifi is also available. There's no lift so be prepared to carry your suitcase up one or two flights of stairs.
The breakfast was pretty typical for our time in France. It consisted of a basket of breads, cereal, yoghurt, pots of apple puree and tea/coffee/juice.
The hotel is located outside the centre of Souillac, probably 20-25 minutes' walk to the centre for the restaurants etc. It's located by a roundabout so we were a little concerned it might be noisy, but needn't have worried - very little traffic seemed to go past at night. Free parking is available at the hotel.
I have to admit that as a town, Souillac was larger and less charming than I had been anticipating. So although I would recommend Hôtel du Puy d'Alon as a good value and friendly place to stay in the region, I wouldn't suggest arriving too early in the day - there's not a lot to see in Souillac!
