If you approach the town from the other side of the Rhine, you notice this ugly building between all the ancient ones. Well, that is the hotel. Once inside, it gets much better. Some rooms have balconies with Rhine views, others of the town. Stein am Rhein is a small town, so everything is in walking distance. The train station is on the other side of the river, a 15-minute walk. The hotel has a nice pool with daylight, not too small and not too cold. There is also a sauna and solarium. The hotel bar is strange indeed, with integrated dancefloor and disco lights. On that evening we were the only guests until some others arrived (it was around 10.30 p.m., what you would expect to be a typical hotel bar hour). Breakfast with a wide choice of everything, unusual range of newspapers with breakfast; at least 5 or 6 different ones.
Hotels seems to used a lot for seminars, they have lots of meeting rooms of different size, but nothing going on when we were there.
