If you are thinking of going to Switzerland and would like to experience the beauty of the high alps, close to thermal baths in Leukerbad, I would very much recommend staying at the Berghotel Wildstrubel.

I know it's been a long time since I stayed at this beautiful hotel, but it deserves to be on the site. I have subsequently recommended to my friends and my parents to stay there, and both had a fabulous time (most recently 1 year ago - parents were very happy with hotel).

The hotel is near the Gemmi pass, high above Leukerbad (Loeche les bains)and is reached by cable car, or hard core hiking involving ladders! My sister and I stayed there in the summer of 1999 for a night in a nice four person dorm with just us. The decor was light wood with bunks and the view was really special. The food was nice, and the staff were extremely pleasant. The hotel was clean and fresh.

There is a beautiful glacial lake, and there are a number of walking options. I believe there is also skiing in the winter. It was definitely the most striking location for a hotel that I have ever stayed at. Unfortunately I don't have digital photos of the Wildstrubel, but their website has some amazing ones.

I would really recommend spending a night at what feels like the top of the world.
