“We felt like at home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Very charming hotel in the old center of Scuol, beautiful building with wooden walls in the restaurants and everywhere in the hotel. Warm and welcoming service. Excellent food at breakfast and dinner, the Süvretta was a lovely place to have dinner. The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable and cosy... very quiet surroundings. The family atmosphere of this hotel was very pleasant. We will come here again. Happy New Year and Thank you to everybody at the hotel.

“What a delightful little hotel!”

We stayed at the Hotel Engiadina for one night while in Scuol. The hotel is charming and the staff warm and welcoming. The beds were very comfortable with lovely down duvets and pillows, the bathroom large and modern and spotless. We were upgraded from the medium room to a large room, so I can't speak to the other. It was cold and gray when we arrived so we had dinner right in the cozy the hotel dining room - and it was superb! Breakfast was included in our rate and was quite good - the typical Swiss fare of meats, cheeses, breads, yogurts, and hot boiled eggs cooked to order. The hotel is in the old town, a steep downhill - and therefore uphill - hike to the train station, so if you travel by train you may want to take the local bus or taxi to the hotel (although with our wheeled luggage going downhill wasn't a problem). However, when we asked about calling a taxi to avoid the uphill hike to the train station, the hotel staff kindly offered to give us a ride as soon as she could get free for a moment. That is the type of hospitality which has guests returning! We will happily stay at the Hotel Engiadina the next time we are in Scuol and highly recommend this special place.

“Would come back any day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

We had used Tripadvisor to look for a place to stop in Scuol just for 1 night, and the comments of other reviewers made us call up this hotel to make a booking. It was on the same day as we would arrive, and already on the phone one could sense the frindly family atmosphere of the place. The little touch of saying "drive safely and I look forward to meeting you later this afternoon" added a personal touch which you don't get in many hotels. The initial impression turned out to be true, and we were warmly welcomed and quickly shown to a charming little room, which was typically Swiss, with the use of lots of wood paneling, yet with a modern (renovated) touch.

We spent the afternoon in the thermal baths, just walking distance away from the hotel. It was the best thing to do on a rainy and gloomy summers day!

The dinner, back in the hotel was a fantastic surprise. Not only does the restaurant have an extensive and well balanced wine list, but also the menu is fresh and original. Dishes were prepared and presented with love, a real pleasure for the eyes and palate!

Officially I think this hotel runs under only 3 stars, and certainly it misses some of the infrastructure to officially receive more, but even for spoilt guests like us it was a pleasure to have discovered this place!

Room Tip: Don't take the rooms in the lower floor (which is actually the cellar) if you want a view.

“Good Swiss quality folk hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

It is a very nice hotel but with that Swiss folk feeling. There's a free parking and wifi. The service was very friendly except for the lady who served breakfast. The young lady (Marianne?) at the reception desk was very hospitable, gave us directions for hikes to S-Charl etc. The breakfast was good as well. The hotel is in a wonderful place, among other traditional Swiss houses, not to miss.

“a touch and taste of real village switzerland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2010

This was my second visit to this delightful family-owned hotel. Last year I stayed in the main house; this year I had a lovely large room in the newly-renovated annex: wonderful knotty pine which smells great and feels great under bare feet. A totally modern bathroom with double sink, bidet and spacious shower completed the package.
I couldn't pick up the free wi-fi in my room - so I sat on the wooden bench outside the main house, sayiing hello to all passers-by along the cobble-stone road, which was much more fun and local.
The cold buffet breakfast (included) offers a wide selection; lunch and dinner are also available. There's a small supermarket across the square if you want to eat in the room or pack a lunch to take when you go "wandering" out of the village or higher up in the alps.
The owner-family are really friendly and helpful, as are all the staff. Scuol has a typical Swiss village feel, and also features a well-known spa, Bogn Engiadina.
This is the only place I'd stay in this part of the Lower Engadine, in far eastern Switzerland.
