This was our first stay at the Alpenrose and we absolutely loved it. The location is perfect - within easy striking distance of Gstaad but in a quieter village. A cable car, a chair lift and the train all within 10 minutes on foot to allow you easy access to miles and miles of wonderful footpaths through stunning scenery.

The hotel itself is charming and the welcome very warm and friendly. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the restaurant terrace lovely, the food is excellent and dinner was a treat every single evening.

We look forward to a return visit.

I've stayed at the Alpenrose a number of times, and each time was better than the time before. The rooms are sophisticated/rustic, and the restaurant is among the best in Europe. The best evening to be there is August 1, which is Swiss National Day. We dined on the terrace and lingered there for several hours, each course arriving at a perfect and lesiurely pace. At about 10PM, the several dozen Alps in view began to be aglow with bonfires built high up near the peaks--how DID the firebuilders get up there? In the distance, in all directions, fireworks could be seen as they were set off in various villages. In the meantime, the evening grew cool, and Martin, the maitre d, whom I remembered from the time he was a busboy, brought lap blankets for us. At about midnight, we took the last of the wine to our charming room, and sat on the geranium=bedecked balcony, listening to the rushing stream below.
