This four star family-run hotel has thus far only attracted 8 reviews in TripAdvisor and only one from the US/UK or other English-speaking areas of the world. This strikes me as a bit odd, but perhaps has something to do with the current strength of the Swiss Franc which makes this and most other Swiss hotels very expensive in comparison with similar establishments elsewhere in Europe. The strength of the Franc is having an adverse effect on hotel bookings in many areas of Switzerland, and is a matter of great concern to the Swiss tourism industry.

Following this preamble let me state that this is a lovely hotel in a wonderful and tranquil setting, well away from the hustle and bustle of trendy St. Moritz a few miles away. It is a hotel to which I have returned for a fourth time now, and the quality of the accommodation and services has been consistently good. We stayed for four nights in a superior double room, very attractively furnished in Engadine-style pinewood, and with a spotlessly clean and well-equipped modern bathroom. We booked on a B&B basis and dined à la carte in the hotel’s “Stüva” restaurant on three evenings. The restaurant is excellent, offering a diverse and imaginative menu, and the staff were convivial and welcoming; one waitress in particular, Agostina (sp?), was exceptionally friendly and cheerful. The rich breakfast buffet was equally good. Rates include free access to a wellness centre with sauna, steam bath, and a fitness room. There is also free high speed Internet access. Additionally, if you stay for two nights or more, you get a pass to travel free on all public transport in the Engadine region including the trains of the Rhaetian Railways (for a trip on the Bernina Express perhaps?), the extensive Postauto services, and even free rides on cable cars and mountain railways. If you prefer walking, there are lots of well-posted walks from Sils-Maria, for example around Lake Sils or the shores of Lake Silvaplana.

Hotel Post's friendly staff and convenient location made our stay in Sils-Maria for a ski vacation very enjoyable. The hotel's breakfasts were excellent and the hotel restaurant was excellent for dinner too. The hotel spa included showers, sauna and steam room and was beautifully appointed with plush towels, lounges and fruit. Our room, although a little small, was very quiet, clean, and included everything that we needed. The hotel decor is charming -- lots of beautiful pine woodwork -- very alpine/Swiss. We loved our stay in Sils-Maria.

We stayed in the Post hotel for a week. The room was extremely small so when we put in our luggage there was hardly any space to move. It was also quite noisy - you could hear what your next door neighbours were doing and saying. The running water in the pipes made it difficult for me to go to sleep. We booked originally 8 nights but after 6 nights we decided to stay only 7 nights about which we informed the reception. They told us we have to pay for the full eight nights even though we were leaving after seven. We complained to the owner but she told us not in a polite manner that ii is their policy. After a long discussion we had to pay 50% for the 8th night. This has never happened to me anywhere in the world that if you shorten your stay and inform the hotel beforehand you do have to pay for the night you are not staying in a hotel. By the way the hotel was half empty.
