We had the good fortune to stay with Simon and Julia at Chesa Flurina in February 2010. (2 families, with 3 kids under 2).
It was sensational. All aspects were well above our expectations - even after seeing the great reviews on Trip Advisor.
Simon and Julia are perfect hosts. They are dedicated to service, but not "in your face". A stay at Chesa Flurina is more like a stay with old friends - who just happen to selflessly look after your every need, usually before you knew you were in need.
The food is fantastic. With the exception of Thursday (being Julia's well earned rest day), Julia makes an amazing dinner each night. Simon looks after prosecco aperitifs and a careful selection of good wine with dinner. On the rest day - there is a really super place in the adjoining town (400m walk or free bus). A real hidden gem. Julia also makes cakes - REALLY delicious cakes. Every day. Even if you are not a cake-eater, you'll eat these cakes. Damn, they are good!!!
No matter how hard you ski, expect to add a few pounds on the trip - and really enjoy doing so.
The rooms are spacious, with great beds and more than ample cupboard space. The bathrooms are scrupulously clean. The hot water comes on strong. There is also lots of wood - which I like to see in a chalet.
The common area, with fireplace, is large and great for winding down after a day in the hills.
There are ski racks and a boot warmer.
The ski bus runs right by the house - and Simon kindly offers to drive you to the lifts in the excellent van in any event. If you've not been to Klosters/Davos, nothing is really ski-in, ski-out, so the key is to be near the free ski bus route. Chesa Flurina fulfills that criteria. You can ski down to the adjoining village and walk (600m) back to the house - or catch the regular free ski bus. It’s all really easy.
The house also has great views. I mark "3" as being quite good - and gave location a "4" in this case, which is still really, really good. You cannot walk from the house to the main Klosters shops (which some people would like), but as I say above, there are regular free busses, which is fine in my opinion.
I'd recommend Chesa Flurina to people wanting a high-end ski week or weekend - and also to families. Rowdy, backpacking singles should look elsewhere - but I don't expect you read Trip Advisor anyway.
The place would also be great in summer - when the lifts are free to facilitate walks in the hills.
I must also say that skiing with Simon and Julie is a great pleasure and really enhances the stay. As the previous reviewer says - the guys have a passion for the hills.
My Davos/Klosters ski tip (thanks to Simon) is: if you like to get away from the crowds - take the valley down to St Antonien. It’s a wonderful run. Save from some objective risk in the afternoon from North-facing slopes above the valley towards the end, its pretty cool and safe.
You'll have a great holiday if you stay here.
