This is not a review of the Hotel Hohenzollern but of its restaurant. During a two day stay in Cuxhaven (18-19 September 2011), I found this gem by chance whilst exploring parts of Cuxhaven's working port facilities. Although I only had a simple lunch there (grilled salmon with potatoes and mixed vegetables), I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant, which specialises in German seafood, to fellow travelers.
The restaurant (stating to offer 'good home cooking' on the menu) is relatively large, comprising of two eating areas. Spacing between tables is generous, and the service was friendly and quick. As for decor and ambiance: simple and pleasant fit the description best. The toilets are clean.
The menu, at the time, offered a good selection of standard German meat and seafood dishes. My order looked great on the plate, was cooked nicely and tasted excellent. The main dish plus an apple cider cost 8.05 Euros.
Although I stayed already in another hotel (see separate review of the Hotel-Restaurant Münchner Löwenbräu), I made inquires about the Hohenzollern room charges. Double rooms cost between 45-56 Euros (September 2011). I hope to find out soon whether the hotel is as good as its food.
