“Old fashioned charm”

This Hotel is very well positioned in the town being on the Torstrasse, just off the main road and near to the pedestrianised area and the Windmill park. You'll get a warm welcome from the reception staff, who have all the information that you could need about the local area and sights.
The buildings and rooms are rather old fashioned and basic, but they have lots of charm nontheless, and are certainly clean and confortable.
I spent a restful night with no noise from outside. The bed was fine and I slept very well.
The restaurant was very good and I had a memorable meal. It seems to be well patronised by the locals so the food must always be as good as I found it. I recommend the steak with mushrooms, which was beautifully cooked. After dinner I took a stroll through the traffic-free shopping centre of the Steinweg, which is close by.
Breakfast is served in a separate room from the restaurant and is of a very good quality. The price is very reasonable and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Average hotel close to town center”

Since I've been on a business trip and not doing sightseeing I make the judgement mostly based on the feeling I have from the hotel itself.
The rooms are clean, but a bit old equipment there. Bed very very soft which might case to some of you a backbone or neck pain next morning.
What is good is the breakfast.
Parking around the hotel.
The hotel is in a walking distance to the town center or to the mills nearby.

“No frills country-side hotel”

My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Deutsches Haus for one night in May 2010 after visiting the Volkswagen Autostadt in the nearby Wolfsburg. The place was clean, had ample parking space (we came by car) and lies in walking distance of downtown Gifhorn. The hotel offers a quite fast Wifi internet (@ € 5 per hour) and given that the rate we paid for a double room included a nice breakfast buffet the next morning the price was okay. The only downside was the for our taste too soft matresses...
