I had booked (and the hotel confirmed) a reservation at the Schuetzen's four-person suite for my family's vacation three months prior to our planned June stay. The hotel looks lovely and was favorably reviewed.

The morning we were preparing to depart for Europe (two weeks before our reservation at the Schuetzen) I received an e-mail that our reservation had without explanation or alternative offer; been cancelled.

I had known when I booked the room (online) that the weekend of our one-night stay was during a summer holiday and many other B&B's and hotels in the area were requiring two or three night minimums. Thus, I offered the manager a credit card number to guarantee the room - he declined the offer and re-confirmed the reservation via e-mail.

Upon receiving the e-mailed cancellation, I immediately replied and asked if two double-rooms could be substituted and received no reply. Lacking a response I booked at a nearby hotel.

The following evening - two double rooms were offered by the Schuetzen but by then we had committed to a different hotel.

If you book at the Schuetzen Meersburg - be forewarned they don't necessarily honor the reservation.

Our 3rd stop in a 3 week trip. Michael and the staff are great, the the hotel restaraunt is outstanding. A great location to walk into most everything you would want to get to.

Stayed at this hotel for one night last July. The owner is very friendly and the room was very clean and the hotel is within a short walk to the town centre. The free breakfast in the morning was fantastic, we enjoyed it very much. The one bed room we had was spacious and we would definately reccommend this hotel to others and we will definately stay here again if we ever need to stay in Meersburg.
