“Excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2011

From 13/3/11 to 20/3/11 we stayed for the 2nd time in 4 months at the Chiemgauer Hof. The whole staff was again very friendly and helpful. Everyone from reception to restaurant, bar and cleaning staff is doing his very best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The food in the restaurant was great with lots of variation and theme dinners e.g. italian or french theme nights, a bavarian buffet etc.
Despite some days of bad weather we enjoyed our stay very much because of the many activities this hotel offers and the super wellness.
We will most certainly return to the Chiemgauer Hof

“Surpisingly good”

We rarely pre book anything other than our first night when visiting Bavaria and spotted this hotel on the Best Western site as somewhere to stop after flying in to Munich.

The drive is around 2 hours from the airport, mostly down autobahn and the scenery gets better the closer you get. Inzell is described as a city, but is really a typical Bavarian sleepy little town. We found the hotel quite easily, but initially felt concerned as the approach round the back of the property looked a little unkempt - the grass needed cutting, bushes trimming and the car park area could have done with spraying with pathclear.

I'm so glad that this didn't put us off. The hotel lobby is typical of the area with lots of character and the front desk staff were charming, helpful and fluent in English. We had 2 rooms at the front of the property with wonderful views. Cost was €115 each. Rooms were clean, comfortable and typical of what you find in hotels across the world. Tea/coffee making facilities were absent, but this is usual in this part of the world.

The restaurant staff and food were excellent for both breakfast and dinner.

I think the best test of a hotel is whether you would stay there again and would you recommend it to friends. The answer would be yes to both of these.

  • Liked — Staff and cleanliness
  • Disliked — Approach around the rear of the hotel - get the gardeners busy.

“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2008

I have just completed my stay at the Chiemgauer Hof in Inzell, and would recommend this site to others. The service is very professional and the front desk staff speaks relatively good english (far better than my German!).

Internet is wireless LAN with no per hour or daily fees. I consistently had a 48.0 Mbps connection in my room. Note that you will have to ask for a user name and password at the front desk when checking in.

My room did not have air conditioning, so it was a bit stuffy when i arrived. But since the room had a full balcony, i opened the door which cooled the room down.

The breakfast buffet had a good selection of fruit, meats, eggs, bread, yogurt and drinks and was included in the room rate.

The room was comfortable, but not as quiet as a business hotel in the USA. However, the bed was the most comfortable I have slept in since arriving in Europe one week ago.

I would stay here again.

  • Liked — Internet and room comfortability
  • Disliked — No air conditioning in rooms

“Nice coutryside hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2007

Decided to stay here as a part of a weekend getaway in need of some winter (Alps) and pre-Christmas (Salzburg) spirit. The staff are all extremely friendly, they go out of the way to help you, give you advice and additional information. They're also very fluent in English. The premises are typical local (Bavarian) countryside style hotel. Everything is very clean. The guest room was more than adequate for the 2 nights we spent there, perhaps the bathroom could have been more spacious and with some more bathroom amenities. The balcony had great views of the nearby peaks and it was very romantic waking up in the snowy Saturday morning.
We especially enjoyed the basement floor saunas, which are available at no extra charge. Again, the facilities were spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet was very good both in quality and quantity of the items offered. We had breakfast very late (just before 10am when the stop serving it) on both mornings with preceding tour bus guests, but had no problem with getting what we wanted to eat as the staff were promply replenishing things. At check-out the girl even suggested she would help us carry the bags to the car. All in all a very positive and nice experience. One of my better recent BW stays. As I am in the area (on the way to Munich) regularly, I am sure they will see me again.

  • Liked — Great sauna area in the basement
  • Disliked — Crammed bathroom

“Above average”

Recently taken over by Best Western. We had a “comfort room” and would not want anything smaller. The view from the balcony was fantastic. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We were supplied on request tea / coffee making facilities for our room and fan at no extra cost. The hotel was not full when we were there (June 2007) and the evening food had been keeping hot for some time and therefore was spoilt. It was different when a coach party arrived one evening, the food was notably better. Same comments applied for breakfast. Great centre for touring; we had a car which made it easier. There is limited tour trips operated from the town centre.

  • Liked — View from room
  • Disliked — With a little effort the food could be better
