“Home away from home”

If you realy want to unwind Jagdhof Glasshutte is the perfect hideaway. The staff makes you feel at home upon arrival. The care and all the small gifts and personal attentions are down with so much tender love and care. We were upgraded to a luxury suite with a beautiful bathroom. Dining outside on the terrace was very relaxing. The second dining experience in Ars Vivendi was gourmand from a to z. Professional and attentive service staff, good wine knowledge and a creative and very tasteful kitchen chef. You need to stay a week to taste all breafast items, beautifully presented on the buffet. As a farewel we received some small local food gifts to keep the Glasshuette memories alive at home

“Highly recommended though set your Satnav - this is quite remote”

Spent a family weekend - peace and quiet in the middle of the countryside. Beautiful hotel especially when lit up at night. Easy hill walks on the doorstep. Room, a duplex, was very comfortable and homely. Feels like a large country house e.g turret with window seat and chess board set up, bowls of walnuts to tuck into, stuffed fox on the stairs). This is a dog friendly hotel too (they provide blanket / bed for dog if needed and a good night biscuit treat as well). The indoor pool temperature was a little too bracing for my liking; made up for by the two saunas (traditional cabin and another infrared) and we had the spa area to ourselves for an hour on Sat afternoon. Breakfast buffet selection is wonderful and varied;dinner quality is good (with some specialist dishes - unless you are adventurous be sure what you order in German) but we found service too relaxed / slow if you have young children.

“The perfect place for creative work”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2011

The Jagdhof does not cater primarily to small groups or individuals who want to finish some creative work, an article say, a short story or a project, but it is the perfect place for it. Internet is free but slow, there is no mobile phone coverage, it's in the middle of nowhere, and so there is no bother, no noise. One can fully concentrate on one's tasks. Yet the place, a large hunting-logdge style first class hotel, is self-sufficient enough that one can spend some very happy days there. There is a nice pool for lap swimming (short laps, but never mind), and hiking and bicycling (bikes are free) work very well as well.

Much has been said about the Jagdhof already, all quite correct. I would like to single out from my side again that I really like the almost all-inclusive aspect: Free minibar which is also restocked according to one's wishes (beer, lemonade, water); free tea time with cakes, sherry, and great ham and sausage selection; very nicely furnished, large rooms (mostly suite-like); really nice breakfast (including made-to-order eggs benedict or oysters, also inclusive). The restaurants are very nice as well, but one has to watch that one doesn't overeat here, and I did not use them much.

My stay at the Jagdhof was both very productive and very pleasant, and I will definitely be back.

“Luxury with simplicity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

Fantastic hotel situated in a fantastically quiet place close to a forest. The rooms are fine even if the bathroom needed some "update". After a glass Sekt at the reception, a basket of fruits/biscuits awaits in the room. Hotel has all amenities one could wish for : pool, sauna, garden...The gastronomic restaurant Ars Vivendi was a highlight of the stay. The food was fantastic from appetizers to dessert. Too bad the decoration (some sort of mix between roman and kitch) is not up to the food. Service was great. Also a more classical restaurant/Stube with very cosy tables and still great food. Breakfast has all you could wish for, from oysters & salmon to saussidge & eggs and the more classical breads/viennoiseries. Definitively a place to go to (and to come back to).

“Very high quality - in every aspect. Good value.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

I stayed there for a week on a recent business trip to Siegen. I must say the stay was one of the most memorable trips I've ever taken. Although the location of the hotel (for daily business in Siegen) is a little bit of a drive, it was delightful to be able to get-away from the hustle and bustle of the city every day. It was well-worth the drive. I must compliment one of the executive staff by name - Mr. Andreas Gravius provided exceptional service although I was a challenging guest. He was very courteous and extremely professional. I gladly endorse this hotel and highly recommend it. I'm certain you will come away with great memories.
