After a great day, visiting Hildesheim, Goslar and Wernigerode we arrived in Quedlinburg, another Unesco World Heritage site. And to be honest, I liked Goslar and Hildesheim better as Unesco sites, they were much better maintained. Quedlinburg looks very promising as soon as somebody picks up a can of paint and starts painting the town.
But anyways, Hotel Zum Baer is a timeless charming hotel and it is situated on the beautiful market square. We stayed in the suites and for that we had to cross the market to stay in a building on the other side of the market. Rooms had high ceilings and were decorated elegantly and with style. Rooms were clean and well maintained and our bed was comfortable enough to get a good night sleep. I think when it comes to location, Zum Baer is just about perfect in Quedlinburg.
What pleased me most of all was the service from the staff. We were on the second floor and since my mother in law can't descend the stairs very well we phoned and asked for roomservice even though it was available in the hotel information guide. But it was no problem at all, just give us your order and it will be delivered to your building, 2nd floor, free of charge. Now that is what I call service, 2 thumbs up. Breakfast was wonderful, and the parking was not more than 2 euro's for the night.
I think, when staying in Quedlinburg this is your safest bet.
Other hotels that I saw: Hotels zur Goldenen Sonne(nice, but not as central), Hotel Stadtschloss (close to the Castle, but not as central), Theophano(looked a little gloomy from the outside) were definitally not as good as options as Zum Baer.
