“Excellent hotel, great base for Lake Constance”

Hotel Riva had excellent staff, beautiful rooms, great breakfast and dining and was quiet, unfortunately it is also fairly expensive but you do get what you pay for here. We used the hotel as a base to tour by bicycle (we hired our bikes in Konstanz), ferry and train the Lake Konstannz region and it worked out brilliantly. In the evenings we either dined at the hotel or walked into Konstanz for the evening (10 mins) to one of the many restaurants there. Would thoroughly recommend the hotel for its decor, rooms - both public and bedrooms and its staff. PS if you like casinos, the Riva is in a very quiet area next door to the Konstanz casino which also had good food.

“First class hotel in a beautiful setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

From the moment we arrived at the hotel until we left we were spoiled. The artchitecture, design and amenities in this hotel are first class. The rooms are beautifully decorated. We had a room with a balcony and together with the beautiful roof-top pool/lounge area we felt that we didn’t even want to leave the hotel. The free minibar with water/beer and the fruits in the room are a very nice touch, as is the turn-down service. We ate dinner at the restaurant and were satisfied with the food. The breakfast spread is amazing, especially if the weather is nice enough (as it was when we were there) to eat it outside on the patio with view of the lake. The only thing I was missing was a bar/drink service at the pool. They had a system where you could call down to order anything, however, it felt awkward without any menus and having to make the call from a lonely phone. Especially during nice weather weekends, this would have been a nice service to have. Thank you Hotel Riva for a wonderful get-away!

“Modern and new”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

We spent 3 nights there in one if the corner rooms. These rooms are very big and due to large windows sun flooded.
The hotel has a beautiful pool on the roof top. Most of the time we have been there on our own. However the pool area needs more looking after as we found a glass filled with an old drink and cigarettes right in front of our sun beds under the bushes which grow there.
The restaurant and the bar are spacious and the food and drinks are great. People are friendly and you have a beautiful few of the lake.

“Modern luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

Riva is a fabulous hotel, particularly if you love modern design. It really does look as nice as it does in the pictures. The rooftop pool and deck is probably the highlight, though, with the plantings making lounging very private even though other guests are up there too. The pool is heated but I would have liked to see the heat turned up a few more degrees - Germany really isn't always that warm in the summer. The rooms are very nice, a little on the small side for this category of hotel but more than enough and very sleek and modern. We had a side balcony room which was nice, but if there had been availability I definitely would have had one of the full lake view balcony rooms - I think the view is worth it. I was not a fan, however, of how the TV was mounted on the wall so it was very easy to bump into it as you move around the room. Rather have no tv than that. The location is a bit out the way, you might want to drive to the city center, but it is right on the water next to a pedestrian promenade which is nice. Because I had a cold during my stay and had limited energy, we ended up eating all our dinners at the hotel's restaurant and having eaten almost everything on the menu over three days I can definitely say the restaurant is very good. The food is modern but with a local focus and the service is friendly and efficient. When it was warmer we did eat outside which was wonderful as the patio looks over the water. The service overall at the hotel was good, but we noticed there weren't a lot staff - the woman who checked us in helped us take our bags to our room, for example.

Please be aware there is new building being built directly behind the hotel right now. Our room was on the side closest to the construction and though we couldn't hear it when we were in the room, the noise made using the balcony impracticable. If we were facing the lake on the other side of the building it wouldn't have been a problem, I think. Hopefully they'll be done with that by the end of this year.

“Luxury Hotel near the Lake with all the trimmings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

We selected this Hotel on the basis that it was a luxury experience. we were not disappointed. The Hotel was sleek and modern and our room was really well equipped. Our Opel Astra hire car looked quite out of place amongst the Mercedes and Porches in the car park. Everything was top class with fine cotton sheets, the fluffyest bathrobes I've ever seen. The shower was a large glass enclosure with a ful length window into the bedroom. Luckily there was a blind built into the wall for those who are a little more modest.
Breakfast was a delight with top quality food from smoked salmon, and prawns to fresh local breads and pastries and the option of a range of egg dishes (fried, omelettes, scrambled), made to order. The staff were helpful and recommended a good restuarant in town for our wedding anniversary celebration. The one down side was the fact that there was a music fesitval on in the town and the Hotel closed their restaurant and had a party in the bar . We were invited to go for a charge of Euro 10 plus the cost of drinks. Given that, without the festival it would have been free to go to the bar, I felt this was rather mean. Overall though we enjoyed the experience
