For my first time in a Kyriad, I didn't know what to expect. Now I know it's a slightly-above-budget-level hotel, probably about on a par with Premier Inn in the UK.
The room was reasonably spacious, although not in great condition - a TV mounted to the wall in a somewhat suspect fashion, a light that didn't work, a plastic chair and a few shabby edges but, fundamentally, the room was clean and worked. The bathroom was fine, and seemingly newer than the room itself, kitted out in a very pleasant dark colour scheme with plenty of contrasting light.
The shower sadly only knew two temperatures; 'scaldingly hot' or 'steam', but I'm sure that was just our room. We didn't raise it with the hotel as we knew they were full so changing rooms wouldn't be possible, but the attentive staff at reception and in the restaurant suggested to me it wouldn't have been a problem.
Breakfast was reasonably good for a continental buffet, with plenty of croissants and coffee on offer. Limited free parking was available at the back of the hotel, but there's also a large pay car park at the front so there's no need to worry about finding somewhere to put your car.
All told, at around €85 for the night it's perhaps not as good as I'd have liked. The previous night I was at a Holiday Inn paying far less, and days later in Rome at a cheaper rate, and both hotels offered a far more comfortable and pleasant experience. However, there's not much competition in Montelimar, so it's no doubt a case of what the market will bear.
