“Very Basic Apartment - Street noise and no shower curtain, Kettle or Grill”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2010

Stayed there over new year 09/10. In a room right on the street corner so had drunk French & Italians singing to us most nights. Apartment did not have basics such as a kettle, grill/ oven or a shower curtain so bathroom was flooded constantly. Bed sheets / blankets were dirrty and the apartment had not been recently refurbished as described in the holiday brochure. Ski locker room had lights hanging dangerously ready to hit you on the head. Close to ski lifts is one of the only positive things about this place. Would not stay there again even if I was paid.

“Ok-ish”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2010

We arrived at 12:30 and found that the check in was only between 15:00 and 20:00 on Saturdays (17:00 and 20:00 other days) so sat in a near by restaurant waiting. By the time 15:00 arrived there were about 60 people waiting in line! Rooms were ok with all appliances you needed but nothing else, we promptly went out and bought washing up liquid, toilet roll etc. Only a 2-3 minute walk to a nearest chair lift. Each apartment gets a ski locker the same size (if your 2 people or 8!) and they can only fit about 4 skis in each at a squeeze. Wouldn't return anytime soon but the staff were friendly.

“3 star apartment with no shower curtain?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2010

We booked this apartment with Crystal expecting a 3 star apartment, when we arrived it was apparent that they forgot to mention that it's like a hostel which can't even supply a shower curtain. The flip side to this is that we got a swimming pool in the bathroom every day! The beds were pretty rubbish and the blankets had not been washed in some time hich was not very nice. They do not supply towels, another thing Crystal did not tell us and they charge 8 euros for a starched tea towel. Kitchen facilities are basic. Take your own as the shop charges 18 euros! The location was quite good and the nearest lift is a 2 minute walk, you can ski pretty much to the door down a short bt of road if there is snow. Wouldn't stay here again even if it was free.

“Excellent accomodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2008

Excellent accomodation. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the service from the reception was also very good. The girl behind reception spoke excellent English and was very informative, TNo problem getting to the gondola to take you up to the glacier as the resort was not very full. Just a short drive, put on your ski boots and hop on the cable car to the glacier. Plenty of other activities to do in the resort and would recomend the 6 day ski pass, which also allowed you 1 hour of golf practice, 6 toboggan runs, unlimited use of the outdoor pool, archery, mountain biking, and unlimited use of the ski lifts, which take you to Venosc, and all over the mountain. Experienced the white water rafting from St. Christphe, , although would have helped if I could have spoken fluent Italian, as staff had difficulty speaking English. Great time to go and would defiitely recommend resort and apartment.

“OK ..but would chose a different property for our next stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2007

Just got back from Edelweiss Les Deux Alpes, stayed 30th Dec - 6th Jan 07. The apartments we were told are brand new. On arrival u have to give a credit card in case of any damages. U pick up your bed linen from cradles in the foyer as u have to make your own beds. On day of departure u have to strip your beds and place the linen in the cradles in the foyer. We were given a choice to have cleaner but there were 7 of us sharing the room so we decided to keep it tidy. The room was very clean and smelt new. We were room 3 which is on the ground. Below us is the locker rooms for your skiis - we were given 2 keys between 7 of us - if u lose a key its 20 euros to replace. In the room there is only hot rings and a microwave - no toaster and oven which we were put out by. there is a large fridge with a small freezer compartment. There was one toilet and one shower (with no shower curtain so the wooden floor was soaking throughout our stay). Our toilet leaked the entire week but it was clean water thankfully. Also the sink in the kitchen flooded our floor so we had to report these tow problems - the man from reception did come to see but the problem was not rectified while we were there! There are heaters on the walls in each bedroom which we had to use to do the drying of our ski wear - we used the chairs from the kitchen and draped our clothes over them until dry. There is a portable TV but no SKy channels so everything was in French. The walk to the ski lifts was a treck in the mornings and very hard with ski boots - it was 5 min walk to the nearest bus stop - a tip... outside the hotel, turn right and walk to the bus stop on the same side of the road, the bus does a loop so by getting on the hotel side of the road u will get a seat as when it continues further on down obviously it gets packed, (if u crossed the road and got on the bus there never was a seat) the bus is free and is approx every 15 mins. it is a god send as the ski boots are the most uncomfortable things i have ever experienced. the weather was snowing every day so that was great as there had not been any over christmas and we were a little worried. it is a expensive resort to stay but there are some lovely restaurants to dine in. the nearest supermarket is across the street turn left out of hotel. TIP up by the main ski lift area is BRUN Sports... this is where u can hire a locker for 15 euros for the week and place your skis and boots in... we found this out on the 5th day!! (our rep seemed unaware of the service when we asked on arrival!) so on the day u arrive u will go and get your skis and boots etc, then pop across to BRUN sports and hire a locker it will be the best 15 euros u will spend.
... we spent a lot of time in the room being so shattered after a full day skiing and ski school 6 mornings out of 7 and we did find it comfortable and warm... it was a shame we had the plumbing problems. The Edelweiss is more or less ski in ski out as there is a green slope just above the property but i would say more or less ski in - as its upwards treck towards the slopes which is a mean feat for anyone! All in all tho we had a fab holiday the skiing was excellent fun and we saw fantastic sights.. my children have been to this resort 3 times now the other 2 visits being with the school - I would definately return but maybe to a property closer to the slopes and next time i would definately consider a catered property (personal preference).

  • Liked — the room was not too small for 7 of us and it was warm
  • Disliked — the plumbing
  • Tips/Secrets — definately put ur boots and skiis in a hired locker up opposite the slopes as it is otherwise a 15 min walk there every day there and back!!
