Les Capucines is a stunningly beautiful, family-run hotel just outside St. Tropez. And because it's just outside St. Tropez, it's best if you have a car or a bike, or are willing to take a taxi into town; it's too long to walk (about a five minute drive by car though).
If you have a way to get into town, the location of Les Capucines actually becomes a huge advantage. It's situated on a hilltop overlooking the harbor of St. Tropez. The hotel is comprised of the easily accessible reception desk, several small buildings full of rooms, and a beautiful terrace/deck on which you'll find a pool, a hot tub, about a dozen lounge chairs with umbrellas and tables, an excellently-manicured garden, and a few out-of-the-way, secluded lounge chairs. Our room was the perfect size -- big double bed, plenty of room to walk/sit around the bed, and a nice bathroom with bath and shower. Toiletries are provided, and are of good quality.
What really makes Les Capucines stand out, though, is the service. The reception/concierge/whatever is extremely helpful and speaks English quite well. He recommended several places to eat dinner, directed us to the main parking lot in Cannes, and even gave us great directions to a beach near St. Tropez where creeks run into the ocean, populated mostly by locals.
Breakfast was not included, but was reasonable (around 10-12 euros per person) and quite good. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available on the terrace, which is a good thing since you may find yourself not wanting to leave the hotel, which is perhaps the most relaxing place I've ever been.
Rates change with the season, but we (my girlfriend and I) stayed there in late May/early June for 100 euros per night.
In short, if you have a car/bike or are willing to take a taxi into town, Les Capucines is an absolutely perfect place to stay in St. Tropez. Its service is superb, and it is simply one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
