Travelling through the area on a motorcycle tour originally heading for La Rochelle we were recommended Sable D'Olonne as an alternative.
Sable D'Olonne, famous as the start and finish of the Vendee globe yacht race, has a large sandy beach that is within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel itself overlooks the working port.
We arrived (7 people on 5 motorcycles) and were warmly welcomed at short notice by the staff at Hotel Angleterre. Rooms were well equipped and we'd recommend asking for a view of the quayside. The Motorcycles went into the Hotel's secure parking in the next block.
We had standard breakfast in hotel and a memorable dinner in Le Dauphin restaurant attached to the hotel, I'd recommend the fruits des mer.
Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.
Prices range from 70-140 euros for a double room depending on season.
