The Mercure is located next to the marina and the city center with all rooms having a view over the sea. The rooms have balcony, TV, airco and free wifi (unfortunately, everytime you log in, you have to give your name and e-mail adress, not sure what is done with this information) and are quite spacious with a comfortable bed. The rooms are well kept and clean. Breakfast buffet at a 15 EUR surcharge offers a wide selection of fresh bread, fruit(-juices), pastry, etc. Staff is friendly though reserved, and not all speak english, which is somewhat surprising. Parking space is available at the front of the hotel at an extra fee.

Stayed here october half term, didnt have much contact with the staff but they all seemed pleasant and spoke basic english, hotel didnt seem very full and i am sure this affected the quality of the hot food for breakfast (slow turnover) but the choice of cold plates was excellent. It seems that every room has a balcony with a good view of the harbour. Due to the time of year most of the restaurants were closed and choice was limited, however we did stumble upon the restaurant Caribe (right at the front of the hotel and then second right - approx 150 yards) didnt look like much from the outside but they do fantastic food at reasonable prices. If you go this time of year dont pay for the hotel parking (10 euro per night) I parked 50 yards away for free

La Grande Motte is our stop over of choice when driving from Holland to Spain. After hours of driving you arrive right on the Med with fantastic views from your large room.
The sunrise breaks into your room and you hear the clatter of the luxury yachts in the harbour below.
Right along the quayside outside the hotel are dozens of seafood restaurants and bars as well as a few shops.
It's such a shame to pack up and continue the journey that we often stay an extra day.
Free WiFi, but they charge for parking.

Not very helpful since we didn't speak French- Only one gentlemen behind the desk was helpful. All other ladies-not nice- left a day early and so did extended family.
Friends that were there too couldn't wait to leave!
