“Good choice for Via Lattea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

You can not be closer to the lift. In fact a carpet leading to the Clotes station is along hotel's fence. Some people are smart enough to step on it midway, less smart have to go 20m down. Hotel is modest. Rooms are small, at least at the front part. It seems that the original room has been changed into a smaller room + a tiny bathroom. Moving in the bathroom requires some exercises, but can be managed (not if you are over 85kg). Ski room is adequate, just at the main entrance. Food is superb. It is a simple Italian cooking in the best, family style. Generally in the hotel is a family atmosphere. Apparently hotel is patronized by regular visitors - mainly Italian families of 3 generations. It is an excellent (and inexpensive) choice for skiing in the Via Lattea area.

Room Tip: Front rooms are quiet but small

“Great stay!”

We are a group of eight bikers and stayed at Hotel Hermitage in September.
The welcome was really good: staff is polite and prepared.
Hotel Hermitage was recently renovated and rooms are very functional.
Location is great, just few steps from the center.
Restaurant serves Italian cuisine: very good.
Great hotel with an excellent price.
We will be back!

“loved the location, hated the hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2008

We picked this hotel due to its location next to the Clotes ski lift, and the fact you can ski to your door. We checked the few reviews we could find online and everything seemed to look ok.

The location was definately the best thing about this hotel. My room was an 80's throw back, which i would not have minded if it had been clean. The truth is the curtains were mouldy, the walls and ceilings in the bathroom were mouldy and the room generally needed some tlc, for example, the window shutters would conatantly bang against the window at night. When this was brought to the attention of staff we were told 'it happens'. I'm sure if they were fixed and could be fastened back then it wouldnt happen!! The other room was a much more modern style and had obviuosly been recently refurbished, however, stank of stale cigerette smoke.

As for the food, I had high hopes for it. I love Italian food! Obviously i shouldn't have been so excited. There was pasta galore, which sounds typical of Italy, but I doubt the watery version is a true refelction of Italian culture. The food would have been nice if they didn't make the smallest ingredients stretch to feed a room full of people. For example, lasagne, i could taste pasta and cheese sause but failed to find the filling! In general the food wasn't great, but we didn't starve. But i do resent eating food because you feel you have to, because you have already paid for it.

To summarize, the hotel is in an excellent location and very conveinient, but the food is far from good and the rooms are in need of some tlc. i personally would not go back, but i would stay in the hotel down the road.

“Got screwed by Airtours”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2007

Location of the hotel excelent as at the bottom of the slopes.

However.

Rooms tiny and beds rock hard.
Food same every morning.
Evening meal not to bad, but dining room is like a youth hostel.
Not enough hot water.

In a group of 12, one of the doors was broken and the hotel wouldnt accept it was broken on arrival. Wouldn't let us have passports back untill paid them £200. Did this with 48 hours to go and then your only option is to call the police when they will not allow you to leave the country for 48 hours because your under some sort of investigation.

Airtours were worse than useless in trying to help us.

In short avoid the hotel and Airtours like the plague.
