We just returned from a 12 day self guided tour of Sicily. One of the highlights was our stay in Ragusa. We searched for a newer hotel that offered a more modern design with a good cross selection of room sizes. We were quite happy with Poggio del Sole not just because of the property but the location. I had initially thought I wanted to stay in Ragusa Ibla and thought I'd be disappointed. But after we arrived I changed my mind and was quite happy. It's a short drive (10 minutes) to the historic town of Ragusa Ibla and probably only 15 minutes from the beach (Marina Ragusa), but out of the fray, (with great parking). The breakfast was great as well as the servers each morning. The Sicilian pasteries were amazing. Lastly, The front desk staff was terrific and professional. Fabiola was so extremely helpful to us with directions, and bookings to restaurants and a winery which made the full experience great.. Thanks!

Poggio del Sole offers comfortable accomodation in a very taseteful setting.
Checking in is fast and the staff helpful and friendly, as should be but often is not.
The room is very nice, giving you a peaceful feeling, equipped with all you need to enjoy your stay. The rooms are quiet although there maybe some noise of guests passing in the corridor.
There is a nice inner court to enjoy a drink or light meal. The informal restaurant offers nice food and a good selection of wine and excellent service of the staff.
In the entire building, including the rooms, nice pieces of art can be found.
There is ample and free parking. A car is needed as the hotel is located on the road between Ragussa and Marina di Ragussa. This is, in fact, the only negative remark that can be made; the location is somewhat isolated.

My husband, 2 kids (1 and 4) and myself of course chose this hotel as our first destination for our summer holiday. We got to Pozzallo by catamaran from Malta and the hotel was about 15 to 20 minutes away from port by car. Since it is in the middle of the road towards marina di Ragusa it is very easy to miss even with the help of a gps. Upon arrival, at 9.30am, we were pleaswantly surprised to find this welcoming building, in a tranquil area, with own carpark and underground garage free of charge and even though we arrived so early we checked in immediately as our room was ready. The room was a normal classic double room, very spacious, clean, well lit and modern. We did not however have a balcony, which we missed as we felt that the difference in price for the balcony was too much. Breakfast was very decent, could have offered a more varied selection, however, the cassatella and the cannoli were to die for!! The pool area is lovely, very quiet and spacious, but the water was surprisingly cold for August. However, Marina di Ragusa is about 10 minutes drive, the beach was exquisite and the fares of the lido very reasonable with an additional discount of 10% from the hotel. The hotel staff were very polite and well trained. The hotel also has its own trattoria which is a bit pricey but the food was excellent. There is also a spa at the hotel but we never managed to visit. For the shopping lovers there are commercial centres close by with ample selection for shopping. Also, it is recommended to visit The Fashion Village which is on the way to Enna from Catania ....where you can shop till you drop!! We will definately go again!

We have just came back from a break in Sicily and stayed at the Poggio del Sole resort, I cannot recommend strongly enough. The hotel is very clean, has a great pool, wonderful attentive service and very good location alhtough you must rent a car to explore the area. It is within a short driving distance from Ragusa town / Ibla and Marina di Ragusa therefore you can have a night out in the town in the evening but can still enjoy the relaxed and calm atmosphere at the resort when you return. The breakfast is unbelievable, it is indeed extremely varied (Sicilian pastries & cakes, scrambled eggs & bacon, fresh fruits, cheeses, cold meats, milks, etc..) and abundant! Rooms are quite large, we had a junior suite and it was very roomy as we shared it with our 2 daughters. Bathroom was large and clean, shower fine and we also had a bathtub. All in all an excellent resort which no nonsense prices for Sicily.
