“Worth a look”

We stayed here for 3 nights in April, using this as our base to travel around the Amalfi Coast. It was a small hotel with friendly staff who were willing to help were possible. The location was ok, there were a few nice local restaurants within walking distance and a laundry mat across the road. Our room was spacious but the bed was old and squeaky. The room had its own private balcony with an amazing view. We did not find the breakfast very appealing so we ended up eating elsewhere. The hotel does not accept Credit cards so take extra cash (we weren’t very keen on carrying around large amounts of money around). Also note, all the ATM’s are in the centre of town which was at the bottom of a hill. The local bus stops is a 10 minute walk away, I would suggest getting the bus around instead of taking a taxi from Sorrento as it ends up being really expensive (around 80 Euros one way).

“Avoid at all costs... How to spoil your trip to Positano!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We have spent the past month traveling and this was by far the worst hotel and is the same cost as much better hotels. The rooms occupied by our children had sewerage smells from the showers, rooms were sparsely furnished, poor beds and with one exception the staff are sour, mean and unhelpful. The overall effect is eastern Europe from 20+ years ago.

“Surprisingly Good!”

Great little hotel with smiley, friendly & helpful family staff. I was worried about some of the negative reviews I'd read about the hotel, but i can tell you this is one of the best value for money hotels we've stayed for a long while. Completely unpretentious, down to earth, very clean, spacious & comfortable hotel with the most amazing views from the room. If you are looking for the real Italian flavour, it doesn't get more real than that, the lovely owner managing the hotel with her sons & Daughter made us feel like part of the extended family.

The breakfast is not the best in the world, that's granted, but neither it is as bad as some of the reviews out there mention. It's good enough to fill your tummy up for a day at the beach.

“A wonderful weekend in a great little hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

Firstly let me say that this hotel is not close to the beach and in Positano that means that it is up a very steep hill and the beach is accessed by foot via many stairs. However there is a very inexpensive bus (.40c) that runs frequently past the hotel and does a loop of the town so it is a great way to see and access everything.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful despite the fact that we arrived very late (after 11:00 PM). The car park for the hotel is tiny and the owner of the hotel parks the cars and gives you access to the vehicle when you ask for it. This was not a problem because the last thing we wanted to do in Positano was drive. The road are very narrow, very steep and there is virtually no parking. So plan to walk or take the bus.

The room we had was delightful, the bed was the usual Italian firm but comfortable and long enough for my tall husband. The view from this high up in the town is breathtaking, imagine waking up to that after a peaceful nights sleep. The bathroom was perfectly adequate as long as you didn't plan for luxury and at these prices you shouldn't plan for luxury! Compared to many other hotels in town this hotel very reasonably priced and you should adjust your expectations likewise.

Breakfast was very good and available early in the morning so we didn't need to waste any time. The coffee was great and overlooked the ocean so we enjoyed a second cup while making our plans for the day.

Positano its self is delightful, although full of tourists. I suggest you take the time to explore a little. Take the bus to Nocelle which is further up the hill, have lunch in the great little restaurant in the piazza there, then walk back down to the main road. From here you have two choices, go the the beach with the Italians away from all the tourists or take the bus back into town. A cheap day out in a perfect part of Italy.

Room Tip: It looked like all the rooms had a great view and either a terrace or a balcony.

“They nickel and ime you for everything!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2011

This is a family run business and they are not friendly at all! They stated it was a 10 minute walk to the beach.. it is 500 steps to the beach! It costs 15 euros to park the car and 10 euroes per night if you want the air conditioner! It was very hot and it as needed, so we paid. The rooms were very basic and small. The bathrooom had a small shower and no place to put your toilitries (no vanity). I would not recommended this hotel to my enemy!
