“A dream come true!”

We travel to the beautiful island of Ponza often and have stayed at many hotels. The Grand Hotel Chiaia Di Luna is certainly a notch above all the rest. If you are visiting the island I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel. The staff is always courteous, kind and very attentive. The transportation to and from the hotel is very convenient. They have their own hotel mini-van pick you up right from the port to take you to the hotel. Hotel staff certainly goes above and beyond to make your stay at their hotel a pleasant one. The views are spectacular and it is at close proximity to the center of all the local shops and restaurants. When we decided to have our wedding in Ponza, we searched many local venues and found it difficult to accommodate the number of guests who would be present at our wedding. Chaia Di Luna accommodated us and truly made our wedding day unforgettable. The staff at this hotel are a true class act! My reception was flawless and the food exquisite. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ponza! - C and D

“What a wonderful unique truly Italian get away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

If your not adventurous and think the fact that you came to Italy on a packaged tour is an immersion in another culture I suggest you avoid Ponza. However if your willing to get off the beaten path and see some authentic Italy then by all means come.

The Hotel is nothing luxurious by North American standards but is genuine and run by an amazing woman who is full of life and passion, she looks like Sophia Loren.

The location is dramatic and beautiful high on a hill over looking beautiful cliffs.

In town there is amazing shops, and small authentic restaurants serving local food exceptionally. One in particular is called Iltemone and it's run by a true Italian character by the name of Lorenzo. He is an amazing chef and runs his kitchen with firewood and the view is beyond compare gazing out on the harbor of multiple color boats..if you go tell him Michael sent you...

“Don't ever stay at this place, it is not even close to a 2 star”

I have to write this review as I was so disappointed with the whole experience of staying at this hotel. It says its a 4 star but that must be because they provide slippers and a bathrobe - although the slippers are plastic and the robes not at all worth having. The reception staff and breakfast staff at this place have absolutely no idea what the word "customer service" means. They are the least helpful staff I have ever encountered. They really need to listen to all the terrible reviews they have and decide to make the changes.
If they were able to change their behaviour, upgrade the rooms a bit, ditch the plastic slippers and provide a fresher breakfast service this place is in the right location and could be amazing.
The manager here should sit up and listen and take on board all the feedback and make the changes needed.
If you want to pay 230Euros per night for a hotel that is only worth 100 at best then go ahead and waste your money - if not then I suggest you book something else that is less expensive and the service is better.

“Ok, but did not meet our expectations”

We were not content with our stay at this hotel. Old fashion rooms, the AC did not work and using the internet was a hazzle. The staff hardly knew any english which made communication difficult. The staff was not igonrant, they meant well but were not organized and had a problem handling international costumers. The hotel has a nice location.

“I hope it will change a bit in the future, because I would really love to go back there a day!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

The location is simply amazing! Just that would justify the trip.

As said above, I hope the hotel service and facilities will improve in the future so that to consider another saty there.

Chiaia di Luna gets the name from a marvellous bay the Hotel dominates. Unfortunately, the bay has been almost entirely closed for the last 3 years due to landslide and related works. We did not know it in advance, but the a Grand Hotel worth this name should communicate this to the customers at the moment of booking.

The bedrooms could be more complete and furnished to the standard of a grandhotel. For instance, the TV set is poor and no satellite connection, the frigo-bar had only water..........

The internet connection provided by the Hotel is not for free, not wireless in all rooms, and most bad is incredibly slow with continuous disconnections. In sum, if you go there not only to get off of the entire world but to check your business mails ...... don't go unless you have your own web connection!

Breakfast is a delusion. For a full week was exactly the same. Even worse, it is from 7 to 10 but if you arrive at 9 and the scrambled egg is over........they do not make some more for you. Then, only salami was available with no vegetables etc.
Too bad, too boring........and in Italy you shoudl have much more!

Service is like for a pension, not at Grand Hotel standard. Most disappointing, while we were in the hall the receptionists were complaining about other customers at loud voice..........unacceptable.

However, the island is beautiful, so go there and take the risk of calling the Hotel if/once these suggestions will be endorsed.

If it remains as it is, shoudl be downgraded to normal 3 stars hotel.

Cheers and enjoy your holidays wherever they'll be!
