We stayed 1 1/2 weeks at Cá Ligure in Ranzi, Pietra Ligure. The small hotel was recommended to us by friends.
Cá Ligure is the most likable place to enjoy your holiday. The cosy hotel is located in a 300-year-old house, our room had a wonderful and big balcony from which we could see the sea.
The hosts, the Italian-German Rembado-family, and their staff do really make you feel at home. Not to forget their friendly German Shepard called Biltz, who takes care about the owners and their guests. They run the hotel for over 30 years and know really every spot of the region.
They serve a great breakfast buffet - I mean really great, with a variety of bread (not only the Italian white bread), eggs, home made fruit salad, muesli etc. - and also offer light meals (pasta, gnocchi...) for lunch. In the evennings you can just walk 5 minutes to an excellent pizzeria, or go for one of the various agritourismo-restauranst more in the back country and taste the Ligurian cuisine.
There is a pool in the green hotel garden. We preferred to stay there, because we found the beach of Pietra Ligure quite crowded. But the hotel offers also reservated chairs and umbrellas at the beach.
The region offers some nice oppertunities for walking along the cost and in the mountains, e.g. we walked up to Monte Carmo (1.350m) and also the old Roman street from Albenga to Alassio.
After all: A great holiday with the right mixture of relaxing in the sun and discovering the Ligurian Riviera.
