This is a wonderful little hotel. Gio and Ivana were lovely hosts. We would love to return and highly recommend the il Riccio.
I agree with the other reviewers that this place is amazing. The room was small but clean and had a great little view. The town itself is a gem and was one of our favorite places in all of Italy. The hotel is well located and close to all the restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful.
We stayed 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The square, restaurants, and surrounding area are delightful. The town is well worth exploring. A great experience over all.
I stayed here back in October 2010 and then again recently in November 2011. It was a great experience both times. The hotel owners were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal. It sits right at the top of Montepulciano next to the main Piazza and from there you can access all of the amazing, unique shops and restaurants in Montepulciano. The hotel has ambiance, was very clean, had amazing views, and will be worth the stay!
We chose Montepulciano as a location, and Meuble il Riccio as a place to stay for our recent holiday from reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not led astray. Gio and Ivana are very congenial hosts and we had a wonderful 4 day stay at their 12th century establishment. We were accommodated in a spacious downstairs wing, with our own private facilities and wonderful views to the East as far as Lake Trasimeno. To wake up from our comfortable night's sleep to the outlook was a treat, matched (or perhaps exceeded) by Ivana's wonderful breakfasts. With a range of cereals, homemade cakes and pastries guests are sustained for their day ahead, and Gio's decorated coffee is sure to send guests out with a smile on their face. We loved the atmosphere in Montepulciano and were loathe to leave. The hill-climb into and out of the village was rather hair-raising but we did tackle that for sightseeing in the vicinity. The Vino Nobilo from the area is definately worth sampling, as is the Brunello in nearby Montalcino. We will certainly return to stay with Gio and Ivana if we have the chance to visit Tuscany again.
