When we arrived it was pouring rain, so we ask if we could get a room right away since we are soaking wet, they did not care and still said you have to wait, this is around 2pm, so we left our suit case and went out after it stop raining. Yes free internet is good for 2 hours, when it ends you have to ask for the code every 2 hours. rooms are extremely small, barely have any space for your suit case, we have a room thats facing the street and it is loud and we have to leave the room open because it was warm. bathroom are good size, only tub, you have to hold your handheld shower. Location is convenient though, shopping, restaurant and the ferry is right on the corner.

My mum and I stayed at this hotel early September 2011. We we're very excited to be visiting this area of Italy and when we saw the location of the hotel we thought it would be perfect.

This was not the case.

We booked a city view room through bookings.com. Unfortunately, we we're given a room on level one where the main road and set of traffic lights we're outside our window. It was a little noisy so we shut the windows in order to block out the noise.

We turned the air conditioner on and went out all day, when we came back the room was still not cold.

We called down to reception, and the young girl came up to try and fix the problem. However, unfortunately I think the kompressor had blown and they we're not able to fix it that evening or give us another room to compensate. So, we slept in a hot room with no fan and we're not able to open the windows due to traffic noise.

We were then told that air conditioning was not included in the price of the room and was an added service that they give to their customers at no charge, so we should not be complaining.

This was not acceptable! We went out that evening to find another hotel, and stayed at a wonderful hotel by the name of Hotel Du Lac for the same price on the second night. Wish we had stayed there both nights.

Reasons for not staying at this hotel again...

1) Owners of the business we're very rude...would not stand up to talk to us a the reception desk to address our concerns, if the younger girl could not answer them.

2) Hotel Beds very hard and air-conditioner not working.

3) Rude to our guests who came to the hotel to help us check out early.

4) Very noisy city view room.

We stayed at the Bellavista for 10 days. We upgraded to a lake view with balcony overlooking the pool. We were on the first floor and had a decent sized balcony. The hotel was very clean and all staff were very professional and polite. Previous revews stated the owner was not very freindly but we found her always polite and professional. She runs a very tight ship and this showed in the excellent service we received.
The meals were all very nice the only negative on the evening meal that if we went to dinner any later than 8pm there were only 3 choices rather than 4 for the dessert. Breakfast was what you would expecdt continental, cerials yougurts ham cheeses bread rolls or bread.
The pool was cold but once in it was okay.
We enjoyed our stay and the views were 5* and we would definately return to this destination including the hotel.

We had a lake-view room and the views over Lake Como from our balcony were really special. The hotel has fantastic views from the bar / terrace too, and has a swimming pool (although in mid-September it was too cold to swim).

However, there are also three not-so-positive points to mention:

(1) breakfast isn't really much to shout about - it's a very limited continental breakfast selection (some cereals, one type of bread rolls, packets of jam). And we received very rude service from the breakfast staff on two separate days, being thrown off tables laid out for eating with no explanation and no apology.

(2) the decor inside the hotel is pretty faded now, both in the public areas and in the pool.

(3) the bed was very uncomfortable.

It's also worth mentioning that this hotel (at least when we were there) is very popular with an older demographic / senior travellers.
