“Avoid this hotel!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

We were only staying in this hotel for one night (pre-embarking for a cruise) but we felt that this 3-star hotel came nowhere near that standard (we have stayed in better TravelLodges in UK). In principle, in our bedroom, everything existed as described BUT:
a) the tv did not work, b) the mini-bar was not stocked c) the air-con/heater was so noisy it had to go off at night d) the room was scarcely big enough to be described as a double (it was obviously part of a much larger room - which had been divided up) e) The shower room lacked plugs and the shower curtain was too short to be effective.f) the restaurant was open only for breakfast g) continental breakfast was poor - the buffet was so poorly stocked that residents "raced" to get theirs first!! h)Juice could only be drunk from disposable picnic pvc "glasses"! i) Our fee was reduced from €110 to €100 next morning. €75 would have been acceptable. (We booked this hotel through Booking.com who have rejected our complaint! We'll not be using them again!).

Room Tip: We did have a sea view!!

“Sent to an 'Upgraded' hotel....what a laugh”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

We arrived at this hotel to be told that we were being 'upgraded' to a hotel situated 100 meters along the road. All I can say is, if the hotel we were 'upgraded' to was supposed to be better than our original booked hotel then I'm really glad we didn't stay in our first choice. We were 'upgraded' (sorry I've got to laugh) to the Hotel de La Ville nearby. We were told that the only rooms they had left were one with 2 single beds or another that was for disabled people....we chose the disabled one. To be fair it was OK. The bed was comfortable and the walk in shower was...well...novel. This is where the good points end. We were told that breakfast (included) was served between 7.30 and 10 am. We arrived at 9 am. The fruit salad bowl was empty and was told it had 'finished'. There were no cups or saucers, no hot water for tea/coffee, no toast, no butter, no fruit. If you wanted cocopops or a croissant you were in luck if you were nimble on your feet. The much harrassed lone waitress only new 4 english words...'no', 'all gone' and 'finished'. My sister arrived at breakfast at 9.20 and there greeted by the waitress with those four words. The Italian manager who she complained to was arrogant, rude and had no right to be in the job that he held. Do yourself a favour and go elswhere.

“Bring your respiratory masks and sanitizers!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

My family and I stayed in this hotel for one night before leaving on a cruise. Yes it's location is good, however the condition of the hotel rooms were in one word DISGUSTING!! Just put it this way, we choose to keep all our luggages shut to avoid bringing any little "friends" on the cruise! We all stayed on the 5th floor which consisted of the only 3 rooms that we had. All 3 rooms had filthy furniture....you wouldn't even let your dog sit on these couches. The balconies were corroded and full of cigarette butts. The shower was falling apart and there was water damage and mildew. Thank God we only had to endure one night there...

“Tragedy!”

the hotel did not offer me what i expected, breakfast was very poor and the internet was not free as they said by phone and more important this is the last time i could use my credit card since was skimmed and frauded, I do not accuse anyone but this left me in a completely mess and as I said I use it for the last time when I paid my room in this hotel...maybe the hotel had some responsibilities on this.

“not what i expected”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2010

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights prior to taking a cruise from civitavecchia. The hotel is old and run down, even before stepping fot in the building we were dreading our stay from the front the building is grubby and unkept. The receptionist was nice - but no air conditioning and the rooms were 1-2 stars at best. the bathrooms were dirty with mould on the wals and the sink kept backing up. They have a supposed 4 star sister hotel about 2 doors down this was no better. Both properties smelt. I could not reccommend this hotel. The town itself has limited options and the hotel was located close to the port - if i was to sail from here again i would arrive on the morning of the cruise or stay in rome the nights before.
