I stayed at this hotel with my husband as part of a Shearings group as we had been moved from the Hotel Mizar.
First impressions were not good. The bedroom was dated with white plastic chairs to sit on, peeling paint on the shutters and dirty floors and walls. The "shower room" was exactly that - a room with a drain in the floor for the shower (no shower stall) with a shower curtain around the shower, a toilet, a bidet and a sink. The air conditioning was a ceiling fan which if turned up full, looked like it was liable to take off! The beds were very soft and creaky and quite short for my husband who is 5' 11" and the satellite television was rather snowy on some channels.
The hotel website says that the hotel was recently refurbished and by the accounts of some of our group this was correct for some rooms but not for all.
However, saying that we could not fault the service at this hotel. The food was exactly what we had wanted to get in Italy - delicious four course meals with more food that any person could want, with brilliant service by the two waitresses and head waiter. The two waitresses worked really hard, they left to go home at about 11pm and were back at 7am working as chambermaids and the head waiter was also there to help at breakfast which sometimes we had at 6-6.30am.
Drinks were reasonable with a 660ml beer at 4 Euros and a bottle of wine at 8 Euros.
I would say that in Chianciano Terme there are so many hotels to choose from you need to do your research carefully to decide where you are staying.
